The LEGO World Builder platform has opened so many new possibilities, but to my disappointment, I have barely seen anyone talk about it. So, why not just talk about potential ideas for new LEGO themes to submit there? I know it is easier said than done, but just brainstorming random ideas should still be fun.
Your mission, is to come up with an idea for a new LEGO theme (System, Constraction, it can be whatever you want), that will be planned for a three year run. Describe the world, characters, and the general plot of the theme, and also talk about how your sets would look like.
So, what are your ideas? You can suggest anything, even a new take on a already existing LEGO theme if you so desire.
I think I have an awesome, highly original theme that would please many people…
Chrological!
(Short for Chronicle of the Biological)
In this concept, a number of cyborgs (let’s say about six) descend upon a mysterious island, falling out of the sky in giant Lego boxes. Their destiny is to find the Minifigure Heads of Power scattered throughout the island and become the Masters of Master Building! United, they will be able to defeat the evil Megakuta Blocks and free the imaginations of children everywhere (which, if the line outlives its estimated three-year lifespan, we can do a prequel explaining the source of their amnesia).
It’d be a hit! Lego could release tie-in comics, novels, online games, even a movie trilogy! And the merchandising would be huge - everything from backpacks to toothbrushes. There could be promotional deals with companies like McDonalds and Nike, even. Market research shows that there’s a good likelyhood 45% of American boys aged 6-12 would want to own a Chrological set. There’d be enough material for ten years worth of story (and a cheap cash-in reboot five years after the original cancellation).
I just don’t know why Lego wouldn’t already be releasing sets for such a profitable and lovable line, or something similar.
It has been centuries since the world of Ninjago has been destroyed by the Empire of Chima. After a fierce civil war the survivors of Ninjago and the peoples of Earth toppled the Chiman Empire. The human members of this alliance christened themselves the Shogun and created their own empire. However, the Shogun empire, rulers of the six galaxy’s is in decay. Whispers of ancient technology left behind by an ancient race known as the Great Beings is spreading. Soon a race to locate the lost world of Spherus Magna is on to determine the fate of the universe.
FACTIONS
The Shogun Empire: A decaying and feudalistic nation that controls the majority of the six galaxies they are divided into the ten great clans and are led by the third jade sword emperor Shinazoku. Their technology and aesthetics are mainly Samurai in space.
The Tribes of Chima: Still holding onto hopes that they can reclaim their empire the tribes have chosen eagle lord Aquilae as their overlord in their planned rebellion. Their technology and aesthetics are mostly based off of ancient Rome-proud and menacing.
Blacktron: An enigmatic force of raiders led by the rogue Admiral Cartovsky. Their Bird of Prey warships strike terror in the hearts of their enemies.
The Drones: After seizing the world of Sentai the robot overlord Meca One plots to expand his rebellion to the rest of the six galaxies.
The Great Beings: A mysterious race long vanished, remnants of their experiments and influence are still scattered across the cosmos, some even hinting at the existence of their mythical homeworld of Spherus Magna.
Nah, just my imagination from when I was 11 thinking about the best way to mash every lego theme together in a way that makes sense with Tolkienesque levels of detail and worldbuilding. This was just the tip of the iceburg of what I created.
I recently got the old mcgonagall minifigure from bricks and minifigs and seeing a bright green witch minifigure standing out amongst all the other characters made me realize it’s high time lego did a colored witch team. I mean bionicle has colored robots, ninjago has colored ninjas, knights kingdom ii has colored knights, classic space has colored astronauts but there has never been a team of colored witches unless you count elves. A magical girl theme with minifigures would be nice. I would definitely buy the colored pointy hats.
