This is Idris. For some information, Idris is a fusion of both a Toa of Psionice and a Makuta of Fire after they fought and died in a special pool of protodermis. He has a sort of conflicted personality, but because he has been taught by the Toa, he fights valiantly alongside them. Now onto the pics!
Yeah, I’ve been trying to clean those up, while also trying to cover up all of the exposed legs. Any suggestions?
UPDATE: I tried to make the backs of the legs as smooth as possible.
Cool Moc, but it looks like he’s wearing too much armour, like he can barely move in it. I suggest you remove some of the shin armour and extend its neck and ankles. Still its a good moc.
I am using an extra large CCBS torso for it. I don’t really want to take it all apart and try to create my own custom torso because I’m not all that good at that.
Not really a fan of mixing the trans blue and trans orange but I get the vibe you were going for. That said, he’s probably a bit too bulky and the upper legs are just kinda strange.
I forgot to mention that. Those are cannons that were fused to his legs. I do understand that he is a bit bulky, but which part should I lower the bulk in? @Rockho thanks!
but it’s a yes no question and the answer is “yes”
I’m…not going to go full out. I don’t have time to even. However, the only thing I actually like are the lower legs. Everything else - while I suppose it does what you were going for - just feels slapped together in an attempt to make something as bulky as physically possible.
also if we wanted to get more technical, the color blocking AND layering is completely dead
lastly and completely unrelated to the MOC’s design
Let me just say, in my defense, that I don’t really have any G1 parts. I got into constraction with Hero Factory, and I only collected about two sets each year. I am trying my best to make the CCBS parts work in a similar fashion to G1 parts. I do understand though that it is a bit bulky and messy, but I’m just trying to do my best with what I’ve got.
That’s fair. My apologies if I’m a bit harsh. My biggest issue with this I suppose is that it’s overly complex to the point of detriment. In my personal opinion, you could pull off the look far better by simply using a regular old CCBS frame and some custom armor attachments.
I will add onto the end however, that aside from the odd placements, I quite like the colors. They shouldn’t work but they kinda do.
The funny thing is, this is a standard CCBS frame. It’s an extra large torso with the longer limb pieces to make him look larger. I get what you’re trying to say, but what do you mean by some custom armor attachments?
Interesting. I hadn’t noticed that but indeed, he’s just completely made off a CCBS frame. That makes it actually a little bit more impressive, although it doesn’t quite excuse the overall messy and overly bulky appearance, to me at least.
What I mean by “custom armor” is quite simple - it’s armor that’s not designed to be armor, but is then used in such a way that it interacts with actual armor pieces in a way others don’t.
However, it seems from your earlier descriptions that you may not have the parts I immediately think of for designs like that, so I’m not sure what can be done.
