Then the G1 story would suck.

Matoro shouldnā€™t come back because his return would eliminate the most poignant, emotional moment in the story. Imagine if Return of the Jedi ended with Vader saying ā€œSurprise! Iā€™m back!ā€

Wouldnā€™t that destroy any impact, any reason for caring about the story that his death had created in you?
