Good day to you all. Seems like this is the newest place to post one’s MOCs, seeing how MOCpages is STILL as laggy as it was back in 2012. Long story short, I used to make some quite…mediocre MOCs some 5 years ago, and present them in an even worse way. Some people who were on MOCpages at the time might remember me. Since then, I dropped MOC making for quite some time, but recently came across my boxed away BIONICLE sets and figured that I might as well try to build something that I’ve had on my mind for years - the heavy infantry of a particular faction in a story that I never got around to developing.
A quite bulky MOC indeed, and a very fragile one too. The idea was to make a heavily armored soldier.
A look at its back, and what is supposed to be some sort of exoskeleton attached to an additional power pack, enabling the user of the power armor to carry even heavier stuff around.
Viewed from the front. The pose is somewhat awkward, and generally has to do with the pretty limited poseability of the whole thing. I’ve always thought that the black armor pieces from that one Hero Factory villain set were great, and finally got around to using them (well, one).
A closer look at the rifle. Funnily enough, it was the first “part” of the MOC that I built, and it ended up using a bit too many Technic pieces. Lore-wise that would be a general-purpose heavy rifle/LMG hybrid of some sort. The stock is “collapsible”, as shown in the picture below.
A close up. The System pieces aren’t there just for details’ sake, they actually hold the thing together.
This should give an idea of how the chestpiece and the lower armor is attached.
With all armor removed.
The exoskeleton/power pack combo.
A closeup on the rather convoluted body design.
All in all, this was a general experiment to see if I still have the imagination required to build stuff out of LEGO. Looking back, I was never particularly good at making BIONICLE MOCs. I achieved the bulky look I strived for, and in general, the MOC looks better than my less than stellar older ones.
