I can’t remember if AT-PT’s are still part of Star Wars cannon or not so this could be my own version of that. I also thought this could be a walker designed for traversing caves (AT-CT?). Any other ideas of what purpose this could serve for the Empire?

I believe that they are still canon. Disney just never bothered using them in the movies yet.
