(Includes Images) My Recreation Of Prototype Tahu

Hello, fellow sneaker observers of the Boards! I have done my take on prototype Tahu! I made several versions based on different interpretations and images, so without further ado, here they are!

First up is my favorite of them, the Dark Gray Mask and Sword variant! I made this image in MS Paint (Paint is my best friend now), based on this well-known image:

In the original image, if you observe closely, the neck is dislocated. This is why my version also has a dislocated neck.

And here are the other images:

Next up is an interpretation of the same image, but with the mask and sword black. In the original prototype image above, the sword and mask seem to be somewhat different shades than the other black, which means one of two things: The mask and sword are gray, OR it is just the strange lighting of the 26-year-old render.

Here is Black Mask and Sword variant! (Ignore the sword intruding on the left side, that is just me not wanting to hide objects lol)

Now, the shade of gray on the original prototype image is kind of unclear, so here are a couple of light gray variants. In addition, this image of a cannibalized Tahu shows light gray on the model. It is a seemingly later version of the model (evident by the proper gearbox), so I don’t know if it used to be dark gray and then it was changed to light gray.

Here is the cannibalized Tahu. In the image, Tahu has one leg left with a light gray foot and socket, both arms are gone, and his head has been detached and is lying there, with a transparent eyestalk. It has a proper gearbox.:

And here are my variants:

For the next one, it is based on a different image. This one is based on the Tahu shown on the prototype canister (the canister has the name Onua on it, which is kinda funny). The cannibalized Tahu is in the same image as the canister, so I made this canister Tahu use the exact same color scheme as the cannibalized Tahu. The canister Tahu seems to be closer to the final version.:

Here are the prototype canister shots:

A closer look:

My recreation (It is near-perfect):

And finally, there is one more image that results in one more Tahu. This one is a different look at the first Tahu model you saw in this post, but with a Lewa axe and TrAnS-DaRk-pINk eyes.

The source image:

My recreation:

And just so you know, here is how I figured out the gearbox:

This image shows that Tahu’s head is on a ball joint:

And this one, if you look closely, also has a ball-jointed neck:

And this one shows the vague shape of a socket in the gearbox:

Putting these all together, I figure out that the gear on the back connects to the socket, which attaches the ball.

And I’ve seen many people struggle with what part the hand is, so here is my reasoning:

This image has confused many people, because the hand shown doesn’t really resemble Onua claws or the classic Mata hand very much. However, if you look closely at the palm, you will also see a ball joint shape right where the classic Mata hand has it. It seems the 3D modellers added a thumb to the hand for looks.

In the next image, the canister shows that Tahu has a classic Mata hand design:

Putting these together, I got this:

Well, that’s a wrap!

And that is all! I tried to make the most accurate recreation there is, so if you notice any inaccuracies, let me know!

Criticisms are welcome!

I gotta be honest with ya champ, you could just wait until the other images are real before making the topic. You’re not racing anyone else to get it out there I think :eyes: so it won’t hurt to give it a few more minutes until they appear.

Regardless, from the one available image thus far, I can’t help but smile at the painting out of the original, with the remains peeking out from behind the new render in a couple places. It’s been many years since I relied heavily on ms paint for anything with real effort behind it, but I still love the program for all that it is.

The images are POV rays and are taking forever to render, and I don’t know if the program might have crashed or if I need to restart my computer. I’m hoping I can get these images out today, but if the same image is still rendering when I come back to this computer later today, I might have to restart the device or even delay it until tomorrow. I’m on a limited time stamp to get this post posted (don’t ask me why lol), so after realizing the images might not come out, I just decided to post it.

EDIT:

@Ghid,it has been around 40 minutes and the renders have finally rendered. I was worried that I would have to restart my computer because it was taking unusually long to render.

I will edit the post in a couple of minutes…

What would you do if i said none of it is awesome?

Not that I actually think that, it’s pretty neat, but now I wanna know what happens.

Most of it’s just a 1:1 recreation, so there isn’t much to say, but I do find it interesting how you replicated the different neck.

The parts are my remains ↑

@Zhyndea

That was the goal. Yay!

Now that I think about it, that’s true…

I’m a pioneer for doing said neck hehehe.
