Yeah, Bionicle definitely did change in terms of story style as it went on. I think the plot itself became more interesting, with all the different plot twists and the different directions it went, and the villains were really fun to read about with all their individual personalities compared to the “swarm” enemies in the early story. But there was definitely something special about the Mata Nui location, and to a slightly lesser extent the Metru Nui location, I think that atmosphere might have been lost as the story went on.
But yeah, Mata Nui and basically all the islands they were traveling on being a giant robot and standing up, that was a huge moment and a really interesting twist.
And I really like character interactions in stories, so yeah I’d love to see more of the interactions between the original Toa team. Or even other Toa teams, or characters in general.
