Here’s the latest in my series of Insect MOCs: Kamaki!

She’s themed around an Orchid Mantis. I got inspired when I saw the reveal photos of the Botanical Magnolia Branches set, and all these beautiful dual-moulded petals that came with it.

I think one of ther parts I’m most proud of is the abdomen; it really captures that segmented exoskeleton look.

All four of her blades are retractable.

The other part I’m super happy with is the head; this took so many tried to get sufficiently Mantis-like.

Here she is next to all my other insect MOCs so far. She’s the tallest one yet.

This is your best one of these yet. The head indeed looks really nice. Those leaf parts are also well integrated, especially on the abdomen.

And the colour scheme works well, too. White/pink often strikes me as a bit too aggressive on the eyes, but here it’s a good balance.

Hmm, maybe if I make a Stick Insect one at some point, but I’ve no plans for such a character at the moment.

I have been thinking about getting these pink and white flower paddles, to create a orchid mantis-like makuta, and this build has convinced me. Great job with the details :+1:

If Bionicle ever comes back as a System theme, this is exactly what I would want it to look like! I love how you made the MOC almost 100% system, yet it still feels like a Bionicle character (it really gives me strong Krika/Mistika Makuta vibes). The way you used those new petal pieces is absoltely beautiful, too! I really feel like people should use those pieces in Bionicle MOCs more.

Thanks! Yeah, my building style has become very system-heavy in the last few years, but I’ll always be a Bionicle moccist in spirit, so that still comes through in my characters.
