Had a lot of fun drawing a Mordhau
is that helmet skyrim inspired? i feel like i’ve seen it before
Not explicitly from Skyrim, but I did loosely base it on various viking and dark age helmets, so there is some shared DNA there
Thought it was a Lewa mask at first!
Oh shoot I wonder if that’s subconsciously why I gravitate towards this design; I draw the character a lot
that’s why! i went to the brittish museum recently, loads of helmet from this general era. i see the lewa too though ![]()
My only real complaint is that the Krampus doesn’t really feel like he’s being hit. Otherwise, this piece is excellent. The perspective is on point, the action lines feel heavy and powerful, and the color choices are superb. Nice work!
This is an awesome artwork.
Is he swinging a sword by the blade?
@ghid Thanks. I agree, and I’m annoyed that the giant “KRAK” behind it all didn’t do what I wanted it to to carry it over the “no impact” valley. I think I messed up the angles. @Au-Plau-Se thank you! @Racie02 yes— that was a real thing, called a Mordhau, or murder stroke. As long as you held the blade tightly so that it didn’t slide in your hand, it wouldn’t cut you, and you could use the hilt/pomel/crossguard as a sort of improvised warhammer. It was mostly used for armored opponents, but I figured Krampus was packing some enhanced durability.
