After my last post, I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t guess that this would be the next thing I’d tackle from that list. To be completely fair, neither did I. But I did it anyway.
The “kratana” is a type of rahi that latches to a target and enables them to see visions through time. Its nickname comes from its resemblance to both krana and kraata, despite it being completely unrelated to either. If you were to have searched Google Images for kratana before now, you’ll find exactly one (1) relevant image before the site assumes you misspelled a certain Pokemon’s name. That one image goes the logical route of combining a krana and a kraata to give an idea of what this creature might have looked like (albeit just for the picture, the two pieces don’t look connected in any way).
You’ll notice right away that I took several liberties with this creature, the first and most obvious one being its size. I decided that making an in-scale model was out of the question, figuring that making a believable rahi moc that’s small enough to actually fit over a Toa’s mask would be near impossible, so I built bigger. It’s not like all Bionicle sets properly scale with each other anyway (eg: Axonn is stated to be 9 feet tall, but his set is the same height as the Toa Inika’s, and Toa are supposedly 7’3 on average). I also gave this creature legs since the way I designed it, I didn’t leave room for any other meaningful articulation anywhere.
I didn’t want to make anymore renders, partially because I didn’t know how to pose it (again, the legs are the only things that can move), but I did provide screenshots of some alternate angles below.
Yes, the teeth are supposed to be slightly translucent. These are in milky white, the same shade used in Krika’s blades and mask.
This moc uses 50 pieces altogether, 30 of which (assuming my math is correct) are in Mata green. If you want to build a monochrome kratana as I have, then your only other options are Mata blue, Mata red, and white. I’m pretty sure I chose green since there hasn’t really been anything in that color since 2003 and I wanted to try something new.
Watch and listen. You have much to learn, and time is not your friend.
