Kuugan, Toa of Fire

Kuugan’s home island could only be described as a barren, frigid land, covered in little more than jagged mountains and cliffs. To effectively traverse the dangerous terrain of his homeland, Kuugan had to use Toa Tools that anywhere else would be more suitable for a Toa of Stone or Ice - a pair of heavy-duty Protosteel Climbing Picks.

Though his tools are not as suitable for combat as swords or spears, they are nonetheless dangerous when heated to several hundred degrees, which after millenia of use have turned Kuugan’s gauntlets dark and discolored.

made this fellow mostly because of the upper torso

Very clever integration of the Glatorian ankle guard in the torso. This moc also blends the red and dark red segments deliciously, and has just enough visible black elsewhere to make the black forearms feel natural.

Nice work!

Very sleek and agile looking. I like this a lot plus the backstory gives him a lot of flair

Nice build :+1:

i have to admit that i “borrowed” the main idea from some dude on reddit, but my iteration works kinda better (the torso is a fent technic contraption) and I don’t count studio renders as mocs

I like the Visorak feet on the thighs, can’t remember the last time I saw something like it. The gappyness also works in some sections, gives him a light-weight look that matches his climbing claws. Not sure how well it would work in an icy environment, though it’s not egregious enough to detract from the MOC.

Thanks! I struggle a lot with slim designs and the Visorak feet were the only piece I could attach over the Inika thigh armor (used the liftarm in the attached pic so they are only connected at the top socket). Weirdly enough, I’m using them as thigh armor in the next MOC I’m cooking up, so stay tuned.

I’m a staunch believer that shoving tires over sockets and such is a war crime. Since I first built the chest, I had to make the rest of the MOC similarly slim, though I wouldn’t say that he’s gappy, apart from his shoulders and upper arms. The rest is just a horrifying technic fent contraption lol

Honestly, I really like the arms, and the colors over all are smooth. My one gripe would be that the thighs seem a lil small compared to the shins: maybe adding a middle knee digit could help?

That was the intention. I don’t want him to look like Kim Kardashian.

This is a really beautiful MOC you just made. Love how the red, dark reds and black go together like that.

Sorry, I shoulda been more specific with my initial comment. I don’t think the thighs need to be thicker at all, just longer, as I think they look a lil short proportionally.
