Hello.
Everyone is announcing the Lariska MOC in anticipation of the canon contest, so I will also announce the MOC based on my headcanon.
However, I’m currently hesitant to enter the canon contest with this MOC.
(The reason will be described later)
Please let me know your opinion.
Her mechanical left arm is exactly same as right arm in terms of modeling, only the color scheme is Pearl Light Gray. Since she emphasizes “acrobatic” such as somersaults and backflips, and because species of Matoran Universe is a mechanical lifeform in the first place, I thought her artificial left arm is not functionally different from natural right arm.
She carries a dagger knife behind waist and a throwing knife on the side of thighs. In MOC you can only see four throwing knives, but in reality she will carry more knives.
Silver round plate on her chest is inspired by the heart light of Miramax movie.
【Why hesitate to participate in the canon contest】
I thought that if the color was only teal, the saturation of MOC would be low, so I added white as subcolor. However, this is a complete headcanon and may violate the rules of canon contest.
Since the MOC’s head gives priority to shaping, it does not have function of wearing Kanohi mask.
Since the right arm is gray, it may be difficult to see the difference in color from the left mechanical arm.
The dagger knife blade is from Star Wars Elite Praetorian Guard and may have copyright issues.
After all, this MOC is made up of more than half of the System parts due to its design (mainly the head and abdomen) and I’m afraid it’s not suitable for “G1 esthetics”.
The height of the MOC is about 24 studs (excluding horns), which is almost the same as the standard Toa (e.g. Vakama). On the other hand, it is a little smaller than Piraka (e.g. Hakann).
The vortixx and barraki are just as capable of wearing kanohi so that clearly isn’t an issue. Also that star wars piece is lego so that also isn’t an issue. I do love the white accents on her!
I’m glad you liked the white accents.
As I wrote above, I thought that coloring would be desaturated only with teal and gray / black, so I added a white accents.
This color scheme is based on sneakers.
It reassures me that even if the Kanohi is a wearable species, it is not always necessary to provide a wearing function on the MOC, following the product model.
I also understand that it contains a lot of System parts.
Initially this was built as a headcanon MOC unrelated to the canon contest.
Even if I don’t enter the canon contest, I would like to cherish this as my headcanon MOC.
I really dig this moc! I really like the head design and the feet design, I think that there needs to be a little bit more white on the arms but apart from that, great build!
I highly encourage you to enter the Contests and give the world a good show. This design is splendid. She is a feared, yet renowned Dark Huntress, and her height comparison to existing designs is irrelevant to that fear factor-- just remember Levi Ackerman.
Her silhouette is reminiscent of iconic speedy melee characters across pop culture, such as Pokémon’s Lucario, and I dig that very much. Don’t let your usage of System discourage you, even if it feels like straying from the “G1 Aesthetic.” You made her look like Lariska, and that’s what truly matters. You 100% have my vote if you do enter. Cheers!
This notion worried me too, given that I myself used a custom head w/o a Kanohi slot. I’m glad this is brought up. Keep your… head held high, OP! Your Custom Head looks clean, sleek, and fitting of her character. Well done!
Sidenote tho:
Do you by any chance know if this piece is in Studio or someone’s Custom Part pack? It seems like a very intriguing piece to use sometime.
@Synnova32
Thank you so much.
Your words encourage me and encourage me to participate in the canon contest.
If I participate in the contest, MOC will basically be unchanged, but I would also like to make some of the following modifications.
Change wrist to a slimmer and simpler build.
To make the difference between the robot arm and the non-robot arm clearer, add a little black color on the right arm.
As far as I can tell, this part hasn’t been found in Studio or someone ’s Custom Part pack yet.
@Enbeanie
Thank you so much.
The points you have listed are exactly what I have put effort into, and I’m glad you noticed them.
