Lariska, Stars Remake (Replacing Gresh)

Stars gresh was pretty crummy, aside from the neat little armor part he had. Same deal as the Skrall, why make a small crappy version of a guy you could still get? So I did Lariska instead. The design is canister sized, and with a mask, so nowhere near as involved as many of the Mocs I’ve seen elsewhere and here.

This is my older photo setup, I might actually like it better. She is one of my oldest Mocs, about 2011 I think.

The design is Toa sized and sleek, since I imagined her the same general height as Nidhiki or Lhikan. I did dark green instead of turquoise, which I believe was her official color.

The Ben 10 torso is really good for thinner builds. It has some really useful connections in general. It fits CCBS well too, really need to get some more of them.

The arms are tastefully asymmetrical. I wanted the design to be feminine but not over the top. I tried to make the overall build style more set-like so she meshes well with other figures.

I always loved how with all the dark hunter’s ridiculous powers, the unofficial second in command’s ability is just “Throws knives really good.“

There are some other fun things here too, recolored sentrahk, Toa Nidhiki, Kraata-Kal, and recolored Shadowed one. She’s a bit taller than Nidhiki, bit shorter than an Inika.

It does feel like the Roodaka rahkshi head slippery slope is a bit overly present here. At least Lariska’s color palette, while not canonically correct, is interesting and reads well. But I don’t see how this moc is Stars-themed as it’s nearly double the height requirement and contains way too many pieces to qualify as a $10 set.

That’s fair, I am aware of the controversial roodaka rahkshi heads. I imagined a sort of Femme Fatale from the description and went in that direction. I had no turquoise to work with at all at the time, so I used the dark green.

The idea was doing a proper 15$ish model for the Stars instead of a smaller 10$ model. She has too many parts for that too, but is the right size. She’s the same size as the other 5 remakes.

I’m not a big fan of the chest design, but I do like the Ben 10 torso use–I’ve always felt like it has more applications than people give it credit for.
