Lego Hero Factory MOC: Witch Doctor, The Makuta of Corruption || My Strongest Titan MOC

Hello fellow compatriots to yet another build! This time we will be looking at my own attempt in trying to making an already perfect set even better. Through more points of articulation, increased height, filling out the design, and adding a play feature. All while making the model as solid as possible. Towering the over the original model in a staggering 44.5 CM and 27 points of articulation, not a single limb flops. With the exception of his left arm. As it is designed to swing in tandem with the play feature. This cannot be helped without negatively affecting the shape of the overall model. By pressing a Lever you can have the Doctor swing his savage claw while his waist twists with the movements of his attacks. All while having his eyes locked onto his target, head never swaying away. His function can even operate while the ab crunch is engaged.

I hope you like this take on the behemoth! I wish I can make him taller, perhaps one day I will if I am able to make a bigger head. But for now 44.5 CM will have to do. Happy Building and play well everyone!

This is by far the best version of Witch Doctor I have ever seen, hands down.

Other revamps I’ve seen focused more on just making him bigger or making him more filled out. They never really focused on adding anything unique to him, quite unlike this MOC - you’ve added a gear function, more “lore” (the Makuta bit), and actual animal-like features like other Savage Planet sets.

The gear function adds so much to him! Witch Doctor no longer feels like a model that was made just to be big and scary. He can now actually move and fight with the smaller heroes while not feeling cumbersome and awkward.

The staff is also something I’d like to mention. Everyone knows that the staff of the original is way too short to be any sort of meaningful threat, and while it’s cool we got a second Witch Doctor skull on it, it’s a shame it was just the same white color. Here, the staff feels less like something he “came” with and more like something that was fashioned or even grown. It feels different, alien even. And that Skull Grinder mask on it is just the icing on the cake.

I think the only thing I could possibly complain about is the exposed bits of Technic on the shoulder area. I recognize that they probably can’t be covered while retaining poseable arms, but it would have been nice to see them in white so they blend in more. And, I’m assuming that yellow thing on his shin is just temporary, so I’m not complaining about that.

All in all, your version of Witch Doctor is probably one of my favorite MOCs of all time! He’s got everything I like seeing in Lego models - good displaying capabilities, memorable appearance, and play possibilities. Amazing work with him!

I am happy that you like the build! I had a lot of fun making this unit. Having owned the original set way back he was certainly epic first in hand. But after a few weeks with the built model, it became looking more like a delicious parts pack for mocs haha

So years later wanting to satisfy my obsession with skeletons I thought why not rebuild him, but with a TWIST!

Yeah the shoulders was tricky with this guy as at this scale the frame was the number one priority for stability before anything else. I tried different things but it just kept making the shoulders more bulky than they needed to be. As a slim silhouette fits him imo. Or rather a sleeper muscle build like a Necron from warhammer 40k. Even worse I was limited by shoulder designs due to using a leg build for his arms. Definately open to ideas for how to remedy the cosmetics while retaining pose-ability

Anyways again thank you for your compliments on the build AND LORE!

I can respect that, and it’s still an impressive model!

Those cross-blocks could probably have one of this part connected on top with one of these connected to it or some manner of CCBS shell. Alternatively, some of the Technic shells (like the ones on the waist area) might work.

I can certainly play around a bit with both those elements, I’ll keep you posted, thank you
