My original transformers plan didn’t work out but I was able to do something similar.

My main goal was to add things (weapons, transforming, etc) to the set while still maintaining the near complete look of the set. Still has the pull back motor too. Also hinged the roof so a minifigure can get in the drivers spot.

With engine removed. Unfortunate the hood turret has to be removed to get the engine.

I’d say you accomplished what you were trying to go for well. It still retains the look of the original model, but all the weapons and stuff are very nicely hidden away. The inclusion of the robot was a nice touch, too.
