Lego Throwbots(Slizer) MOC: Millennium (Millennia) || 7 years in the making

Hello fellow compatriots to yet another moc! This time we will be taking a look at a build that has been worked on in the span of 7 years. Where the goal was to make a Millennium be able to convert from chopper to titan with ease, all while staying true to 1999 elements. As well as a relatively low parts count. Where I can only add extra elements so long as it made the conversion more cohesive. This resulted in probably in not only the most Unique Moc I have EVER made, but also the most satisfying in the level of engineering integrated into the build. But before I start going into a ramble, what about this moc took 7 years to develop and what can it do?

For starters, the design philosophy of Millenium(the original set) suggests that not only does the entire front of the chopper sucks into the torso. Then out his back sprouting a pair of wings, but the body of the bike spits in half to create the legs. Yet compresses at the same time to remain proportionate to the rider. The driver themselves connects onto the new-found legs, grabs the handle bars, connects it onto his head to create the horns, and the front tire then clips onto the right or left foot.

Yet to cram that many moving parts to a physical moc wouldn’t be easy, especially with the limitations I have placed. Previous versions of the moc had to utilize modern elements to come close to such an conversion process. But if I wanted to remain true to 1999, I opted for a new way for him to convert. Instead, the rider and the bike are now permanently fused. Even if some of the engineering hints towards my original plan to have the rider disengage of the chopper. The extra red technic elements pop off the side of the new bike creating a “Rocket Crossbow” accessory for the titan form’s “Weapons Platform Mode”.

Then the upper torso of the driver unclips from the bike. Afterwards, by twisting a knob, the entire bike transforms by itself and even stands itself up without needing you to pick it up. The tires even flip and turn to create the hooves. Rolling smoothly across the ground till its in its new position. Then simply attach the upper body and you are basically done.

Play-features also include:

  • Walking (simply grab the tires and you can stomp Millennium/Millennia around thanks to the scissor lift mechanisms in the legs)
  • Spinning Propeller
  • Throwing arms
  • Rocket Launcher and storage for spare ammo
  • Upgraded head, feet, and waist articulation.

This moc is very satisfying to transform considering how the torso utilizes a gear mechanism that has never been used EVER. I feel like the slots on the side of the torso where the worm gear was visible was always intended to be utilized by a pair of gears. Maybe not in the same mechanical caliber as how Millennium/Millennia has used it. But probably a very similar transformation scheme.

To clarify(as I know many may ask), I personally feel that the product shots for the set did not accurately depict how the set was intended to be capable of. Those were never wings, but rotor blades on his back. with the potential to lock into place when not in use. Furthermore, the hooves are more likely thrusters to help them fly around. Hence is why I made the moc the way I did. As for the new weapon, I made it up. Rocket Crossbows sound cool in all honesty and I love those old missile launchers.

Well that is all for now, Happy Building and Play Well everyone

(P.S. I do apologize for the low res photos, there is apparently only so much this site can handle 4k imagery. if you want to see it convert and learn more about the model, feel free to check out my video here: https://youtu.be/ohi70sk7404 )

I saw the video yesterday, and your design is GENIUS. You somehow struck the best of both worlds: staying true to 1999 and keeping the transformation easy and fun. It is probably so much fun to play with Millennium now that he is the best Slizer ever made.

Very impressive! I’ve always been a fan of your work and this is certainly a shining example.

I agree. This is an exceptional example of @Tributron ‘s work!

The fact that you engineered this guy as having a system similar the MechTech Transformers’ Automorph system is really neat! I was not expecting a transformation without total reconstruction.

I am glad you like the build! This figure is certainly a blast to flip back and forth, stomp around, and roll out. Millennium has always been one of my favorite throwbots over the years. But how he tends to be represented is either one form or the other, very rarely blending the two. I am always someone that enjoys playing with toys so I wanted to ensure that Millennium is fun in every aspect. Also thanks for watching the video!

I appreciate it! it was certainly a mind scratcher that’s for sure haha. I may do more automorphs in the future, as I always enjoyed that aspect in the early 2000’s of Transformers. Who knows, I might do something Armada related. Making a Technic Former was a lot of fun.

Many thanks! I plan on doing more like this!
