Basically, the idea is a mash of G1 & G2. Plus I tried to keep the parts legal.
Let’s just say the build is an afterthought. The mask is my focus (literally couldn’t figure out why my akaku didn’t look like an Akaku, so I did a 1 day overhaul to make it similar to the comics, and that version is in the link above).

Neat mask! The word “gang,” however… are Kopaka and Matoro smuggling contraband Vuata Maca crystals through bunkers in Mount Ihu? =P

No, that would be Kopeke & Ehrye. They’re in charge of distribution.
Kopaka is the chemist.

Also, while I should be working on my Kanohi Hau, I instead watched First Man and got inspired to design more space adapted masks.
I’m thinking of calling this one the mask of tethering, which just tethers 2 objects together with a thread of energy. Seems like a decent enough power on land, but absolutely essential in 0G. A mask of angular momentum would be nice for a space themed toa team, but I haven’t thought of how it would look. I haven’t had time to model out my space garai either… although I guess my mask of conjuring counts as space themed as well?

Also, design review, I’m not sure what to make about my stats.
My adaptation of SpecterL’s adaptive kaukau (pun intended) is my worst performing by views-likes ratio. My mask of conjuring is doing disproportionately well, and it’s probably my most simplistic mask, and not to mention low number of likes, but so is my Akaku, and that’s greebled to hell.
So should I go for more detail? Less? More geometric? More greebles? Less? I’m getting mixed signals about the greebling (although obviously greebling is just a time sink, so it’s easier skip the greebling).
What do you think? More details and more greebles? Or simpler, bolder silhouette, more geometric (and less work)?
Also also, since I’m feeling inspired… my take on the Rode. I’m deemphasizing the circularity, emphasising that rhino horn, and adding the avokhii mouth for good measure (especially since truth & understanding are related powers).
Edit: Finally uploaded my akaku for Matoro. Just don’t expect any new masks from me for the foreseeable future, the last one I modelled is my mask of incomprehension, and my magnum opus… for now.
