This is my first specifically Makuta MOC.
As I was re-reading the Bionicle books, I began to wonder what the early Makuta would have been like. Would they all have been maniacal warlords like Teridax, or would they have been more restrained and silent, like Krika? This is my interpretation of those early Makuta - a bit of a loner, Solitarius.
Solitarius, instead of thinking the power of a Makuta is a right to do what he pleases, believes that his power should be used to better watch over the other species such as Matoran or the Rahi. He puts the utmost care into the Rahi he creates, making each one by hand with love instead of in a test tube, unlike the other Makuta. He is responsible for most of the smaller, friendlier, more mild-mannered Rahi. The Rahi in the pictures are some of his creations.
Despite his ragged and sinister appearance, Solitarius is actually very kind and benevolent, and because of this nature, he prefers separation from others of his species. He thinks that the other Makuta have lost sight of their reason for existence, and thus only follows the orders of Miserix, one of the few Makuta he still respects.
He was put in charge of an originally empty island by Miserix, who thought the isolation would be to his liking. While there, Solitarius made various creatures to fill the island with life, and rumors began to spread about the elegant Rahi he would make.
Solitarius wears a variant of the Kanohi Zatth (Mask of Summoning). He used it to summon Rahi so he could take inspiration from them for his own creations, and because he used it so much, he gained enough control over it to be able to choose what animal to summon by directing his focus towards them.
I hope you like Makuta Solitarius as much as I do! He was very fun to build, and features a color scheme I’ve never used before (Mata red, black, and silver). I can post some diagrams/cross-sections of his limbs and torso if you’re interested, as well as some more photos of his Rahi friends if you’d like.
