Matoran Nui

Hi everyone! My next entry in the 25th Anniversary BIONICLE project is a bit of a deep-cut lore reference from 2001: the Matoran Nui! Though originally called the ‘Tohunga Nui’, this Kaita was featured in the McDonald’s comic Challenge of the Rahi wherein Jala, Maku, Huki, Kongu, Onepu, and Matoro briefly merged their bodies and minds into a stronger, singular being to take on a fearsome Nui-Jaga.

In designing my version, I wanted to use three primary colors and three secondary colors from the six villagers, with dark bluish grey to tie it all together. I did keep several visual cues from the original, such as the Kanohi, arm and leg colors, and shoulder armor. I don’t have too much to say on this guy, but I hope you like him!

Ooh, fun! The proportions are great, and I love how the torso came together!

@Zhyndea Thank you! The torso is easily my favorite part, mostly because of the tube assembly.

This is the first MOC I’ve ever seen revamping the Tohunga Nui! It is so cool to see how your Matoran Nui MOC came together, taking the best parts of that weird combo model and making them really POP! This is such a cool MOC, and a unique one, too! Excellent work!

I have to wonder, with the propensity of painted pieces in a lot of these models, how many customized/painted pieces are there in the combiner?

@RedPandalorian Thank you! I don’t want to claim that I’m the first to revamp this model, but I certainly can’t think of any other.

@Ghid there are only 6 custom pieces in this model: the four dark orange cams, and the 2 white connectors on the ankles. Everything else is genuine LEGO.

Giving him a disk launcher is an interesting choice!

@Racie02 I thought it would be most fitting, especially as I wasn’t able to give any of my Matoran revamps that wonderful throwing function!
