Okay there are things I will say.
I have nothing against games but there was a data breach because of Meccha Chameleon.
The designs are fire. Love the design.
I may steal that shotgun design. Very creative.
I like the little guys too, I never knew those peg things came in so many colors!
I love the parts usage! The pool chair looks amazing, the Onewa heads look nice as a pot, and the firewood rack is very well-built. The hunter seems like the sort who isn’t intimidating until you see the gun, and then they are suddenly the scariest thing around. The creatures are cute!
Puts hands together.
I know you come from a very different internet culture than myself and many of those on these boards. The only reason I haven’t said much of anything up until this point about your style of commentary is because I’m somewhat familiar with those different customs. But even then, what, exactly, did you intend to communicate with this statement? And how did you imagine it would be received by other people? In this case, me?
While I await that clarity, I won’t leave everyone hanging and present to you my raw interpretation followed by further processing of the statement. My immediate thought is, “What does this have to do at all with my build?” Swiftly followed by an understanding that this is an implied accusation that in representing the game this way (in a fun, positive, and perhaps even celebratory context), that I am encouraging others to get the game and also compromise their data.
It certainly comes off as though you consider it in a negative light. Your primer is a meaningless distraction as you go on to state a reason to hold something against Meccha Chameleon specifically. The order of importance in your statements indicate as much. If this was a PSA about the game’s data breach, rather than a gripe towards it, then it would not be worded the way you did. In addition against a potential PSA message, the wording indicates I should already be aware of the situation.
I am not aware of any data breach involving the game.
I have not played Meccha Chameleon. I haven’t watched any streams of it. I haven’t even seen a proper Let’s Play of the thing. I’ve only encountered it in some clips and a song. All I know is that it’s a fun twist on the Prop Hunt idea that looks fun, is currently popular, and would be easier to convey the Sleight of Hand (aka trickery) prompt than something like Prop Hunt. And in that small window, I had seen no controversies or major concerns.
Now having looked into your data breach claim, I wouldn’t call that accurate. Bad actors found that the devs didn’t implement security features to prevent malicious files from running via custom maps. The base game itself wasn’t compromised, it just had easy exploits that anyone is at risk for when adding unofficial content. Which isn’t a new issue for Steam Workshop or mod sites. Heck, even Wallpaper Engine, which has been around and supported for much longer, still falls victim to these sort of problems. But it has been patched, things were largely recovered.
As with anything on the internet, stay vigilant everyone.
@Minethuselah Thanks! Though I’m sure I’ve seen a similar shotgun design somewhere else before. Just can’t remember who specifically. There are so many Technic guns.
But yeah, the come in a lot more colors than you would think. And the list continues to grow.
@Zhyndea Thanks!
I have nothing against your builds, honest. I think they are beautiful, though some of the builds are from a type of media that holds some ‘controversy’. There are some people that might show some negativity. You are a good soul and I don’t want to see you get hurt or attacked by malicious people.
Oh trust me, negative comments I can handle. I come from the old era of flame wars, I know how to survive while being on fire.
That and if anyone disliked Meccha Chameleon enough to comment on it over that situation, they have a lot bigger problems.
I honestly didn’t even know it was based on something, so…
