A few days ago, I saw a video by Taj where he inputted a prompt into an AI image generator and made a MOC inspired by the result. That inspired me to do the same and this is the result.
Other than the Rau being green, this MOC–which for now I’m calling “Kymen”–is meant to be purist. Unusually, I started from the left arm as it was the most visually striking part of the image and what I imagined what would’ve been the hardest to replicate. The flames aren’t as curved but I think it came out alright. Since the image has two right arms, I decided to design both with the idea that the claw arm and the cannon arm are interchangeable.
(Update: 11/12/22) At the suggestion of a few comments, particularly this one:
I opted to change the feet to completely custom ones built around those Bohrok frames and now I’m completely satisfied with the result.
Personally, the feet in the ai picture look more like Bohrok head frames if you catch my drift. But still, really cool idea and that would be a fun challenge to take up.
Honestly I didn’t even think to do custom feet. I might have to go back and try that.
I didn’t use Metru feet because they looked too small relative to the ones in the AI image. Granted, Piraka feet probably aren’t the right size either. Rahkshi feet would’ve been better methinks.
I really like the idea of making a Bionicle moc inspired by something you’d put into an AI image generator, and the actual moc looks pretty good given the limits of lego pieces. I like the green Rau, and the lightning and cannon arms. Nice job.
Other than the feet (which could probably be swapped for custom feet based around Bohrok frames), the only thing I’m uncertain about is the left arm, though I don’t know how I could’ve replicated that curved given the parts that are available.
The legs look more like vahki legs, metru legs look too skinny and straight. Still, making a moc based on AI art is something I’ve been wanting to see ever since people put bionicle into the AIs. Particularly the left arm (his left, not ours) looks surprisingly accurate.
