Mohitti (PMNR Joust entry)

Built for Project Mata Nui Rising’s first Joust MOC contest.

Name: Mohitti

Bio: Mohitti is a Lightstone Cutter - a skill craftsman in refining, cutting, and polishing lightstones for light fixtures or other purposes. In the early years of the Matoran Universe’s construction, he helped install many of the large lightstones and his fasciation with them never left. In his village, he became well known for making special lightstone lenses that one could insert over their heartlight to make it shine a different color. How he changes the color of lightstones into a variety of hues is a closely kept trade secret.

After the village fell down into Karda Nui, Mohitti searched for more lightstones to harvest and brighten their homes. And after the Makuta attacked their homes, this lightstone hunting became a dire skill. If cut and polished right, a good lightstone could at least hinder of being of Shadow, even if only for a moment. So Mohitti braves the skies, mining lightstone and bringing them back to the village. He has even started making lenses that block out their heartlights so they’re harder to spot and is working on inserts for the same in their masks so their eyes are hidden. But will this help save him and his fellow Matoran or his is just one bad mining mission away from being taken like the rest?

Designer’s Notes: Ah, it has been awhile since I last built a Matoran. Even longer since Av-Matoran/Agori stuff. Feels good.

And no, that isn’t a duplicate picture for the front-side shot. I couldn’t decide which angle was better.

Pretty simple, as Av-Matoran should be. They did state it should be canon friendly and designing things to appear how they might/would in canon is usually my goal. So a little flare on the legs and jetpack feels like just enough customization. Anything more custom would start to feel like a Voya or Mahri Matoran.

Not much time left to the contest, but if you would like to learn more you can see the video below!

What parts did you use for the leg armor? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that particular usage before.

It’s the old Fenris Wolf head. The axel is holding it in but it’s a bit floppy without some rubber bands…Or, well, one is. For some reason, one of them is holding into place fine.

no sockets were harmed in the making of this moc (hopefully)

I have 6 of those Fenris wolf pieces lying around, and I may just have to try out this technique. Very fun little build!

@kawaii_kitten Well, none that weren’t already cracked. Didn’t worsen though.

@Minethuselah Thanks! But yeah, probably wouldn’t have thought to have messed with the heads for those limbs if I didn’t want the dark red color scheme and something to thicken up the legs.

Thanks!

That’s the second comment I got about the drill specifically, which surprises me. I guess its simplicity must work really well for a Matoran tool. Which is why it’s small, big drills felt too much like Toa Tools, but I dunno, I guess I figured others would find it too wimpy.
