Part of my series where I interpret emotions as physical monsters in a fantasy world. Fear is a huge creature that I designed with a few things in mind–mainly hooks. It has extendable eyes (you can’t hide from your fears), toungues with hooks that shoot out (it snags you and cuts you deep), hooked blade-arms (when it grabs you, escaping fear’s grip is hard and painful), and in its mouth is an egg-laying appendage that it uses to lay its eggs inside your body when it catches you (so even if you overcome your fear, it’s planted the seeds of long-lasting anxiety and future fear inside you).
