Long ago, there was a simple Merrow by the name of Li Ban. However, after she was blessed, she gained immortality and became a goddess of the water, dubbed “Muirgein.” To prove to the people of Ireland that she was a deity, she played tricks with water and stunned all those who watched her.
(Actually, the myth of Li Ban is much different from this, but this is for my comic series Emerald, so I wanted to do something different with the mythological character.)
Now that we got the little background out of the way, I wanted to state that I’m rather proud of this piece. Muirgein herself came out spectacularly. Although, my favorite thing to draw was the wave of water itself. The background is rather simple, as I wanted the main attraction to be the well, the water, and the woman.
