My 2009 combiners to expand Bara Magna's fauna.

Given how they completely dropped the ball in 2009, giving us just one underwhelming combiner in the form of the Sand Stalker which sacrifices an awesome Titan set and an equally great-looking canister set, I decided to try expanding Bara Magna’s fauna by making my own take on 2009’s combiners. These 6 creatures are the result.

They use all 12 Glatorian/Legends as well as 3 Agori which are used for the Glatorian legends combiners. Both the Glatorian and Legend combiners feature a creature with 2 launchers, one with a single launcher, and one with none.

Made-up lore time!
Let’s start with the first one I made.

The Marsh Prowler is the definition of survival of the fittest. Evolved from a distant innocuous quadrupedal ancestor, this territorial animal is known for its powerful frontal horns, its piercing tail, and its venomous dorsal spikes. Its jarring color scheme is a warning to anyone foolish enough to try to attack this beast. Despite this, the Jungle tribe successfully managed to form a symbiotic relationship with some Marsh Prowler packs, and because of their territorial nature, they decided to equip them with two Thornax launchers to guard the village.

The Frost Vulture mainly lives in the Northern Frost Region, and has adapted its diet to the harsh environment of the planet, where resources are often scarse. Because of this, its beak has evolved to be able to pick and break the Thornax fruit. The Frost Vulture feeds off the acidic juices of the Thornax which allow it to digest even the remains of creatures infested with parasites and other microorganisms. Its beak also serves as a pseudo-launcher, as the Frost Vulture has learned of the potential of the Thornax fruit by watching Glatorians using them as projectiles, and thus now can “shoot” a Thornax to incapacitate or kill a potential prey.

Not to be confused with the Sand Stalker, the Sand Strikers live mostly under the sand and are mostly seen when they emerge to catch prey. These cunning creatures however have been hunted and tamed by the Skrall, who started to use them as living tank units. Thus many of them are now seen sporting the Rock Tribe insignia and part of their claws and tip of the tail feature traditional Skrall weapons. The Sand Strikers however tend to easily return to their feral state after a while, even after taming, and as such they are no longer seen in the Skrall headquarters.

Now for the 3 Glatorian Legends combiners.

The Desert Wyvern is a fierce predator that terrorizes the skies of Bara Magna. They are fast, vicious and powerful. Agori and Glatorian pose little to no threat against these reptilian creatures as their bodies are extremely heat resistant and Thornax are useless against them. In fact, the only reason why the Desert Wyverns haven’t infested Bara Magna is their own nature. They are so aggressive that they often end up fighting one another, which always results in many of them dying. The only other animal that can put up a fight against them is their natural enemy: the Shore Dragon.

The Rock Bruiser is an animal that used to be hidden in the jungle, but now it lives disguised within both forests and rocky environments by developing a double camouflage, featuring rock-like armor while keeping some of its original fake foliage. When mimicry isn’t an option, the Rock Bruiser relies on its front tusks, its powerful bite, and its flail tail. Similarly to the Marsh Prowler, some Rock Bruisers settled on a couple of villages, like Tesara, and the Agori now use them as natural guards and even as means of transport (the connector + pin on the bottom left can be attached on its back so that an Agori can ride it).

Once an amphibian creature, as water became increasingly scarce, this beast learned to swim in the liquid sand. Shore Dragons thrived in this new environment, and mostly feed off anything that sinks in the quicksand-like sea, using their prehensile tail to grab it, as well as off gasses rich with nutrients beneath the sea of liquid sand. Shore Dragons often help the Water Tribe get rid of the Desert Wyverns, as they evolved a fire-like breath that is extremely caustic to the Wyverns’ armor. In return, the Dragons get more food and less competition. The Water Tribe also taught the Shore Dragons to use their prehensile tails to launch Thornax. They even use their fire breath to turn portions of sand into chunks of floating glass when water villagers need to ride through it, or when one accidentally falls in the sea and hasn’t perished yet. They are however hostile towards villagers from other tribes.

You have inspired in me a sense of nostalgia for a page of Brickmaster Magazine that never existed that I looked at on a day that never happened in 2009

These are all brilliant, and well made. I kinda want to build them in real, to see if they look as good.

The Sand striker is my favorite, I really like the colour combo it has.

Hey there. Thank you!
I originally planned to release 1 tutorial at a time, but I stopped after only the Marsh Prowler one because I’m a master procrastinator.
Actually, you know what? I’m going to complete a couple more of them. Thank you again, your message motivated me a bit.

Here’s the Frost Vulture tutorial. I had the raw footage lying around for months. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8i83S46T3s
These days I hope to edit and upload the rest of them.

These are great, I never thought about the lack of combiners during the Glatoran Era!
