Every Skakdi has heard the myth of the Irnakk monster. The good news for them is that Irnakk is just a legend, a fictional tale created to inspire fear. The bad news is that there is always some truth in legends, and Irnakk is no exception.
Naktoura the Dreaded
Gender: Male
Species: Skakdi of Psionics
Powers: (see below)
Pieces: 145 (+1-4 Zamor spheres)
Naktoura made a name for himself as a corrupt warrior. He was known for his incredible anger, knack for destruction, and lust for wrath, all of which were great even by Skakdi standards. During his life, he would seek out new territory to invade just for the thrill of it, taking few valuables in the process and leaving everything else to burn. What few primary accounts we have of Naktoura’s attacks all seem to indicate that he was alone in his efforts; in many ways, he was a one-man army. So terrifying was his reputation in life that simply speaking his name, even for centuries after his death, would be enough to inspire fear in all but the most hardened of souls.
Legendary as he was, Naktoura was still a mortal man. As mortals tend to do, he passed away approximately 40 to 45,000 years prior to the start of the Toa-Dark Hunter War in Metru Nui. How he died remains a point of contention among scholars. Some suggest that he died in a failed razing where the residents managed to fight back and take him with them to the grave, others suggest that he tried forming a small crew to make his razes more effective only to have that crew stage a coup and summarily execute him for his crimes, but my personal favorite idea is perhaps a most ironic one: I believe he died peacefully in his sleep, a fate that he robbed from so many others and one he truly did not deserve. However he died, Naktoura’s legacy lives on in the form of the Irnakk myth, a tale that’s only slightly exaggerated.
Naktoura’s Powers
As with all Skakdi, Naktoura possessed three powers.
- First was his elemental ability of Psionics, which he can either channel in tandem with another Skakdi or through a special tool crafted to channel them on his own. In this case, he uses the Uhane Trident to do the latter.
- Second was his periscopic vision power, which enabled him to see through the eyes of his target in addition to his own. He would usually use this to spot where victims are hiding and revel in seeing their deaths from their perspectives.
- Lastly, he possessed the unique ability to access the power of Kanohi masks. Unlike a Toa, who must be wearing the mask at all times, Naktoura simply has to touch a mask to gain access to its power; though he will lose access if he breaks concentration or if he touches a second mask, which will override the powers of the first.
Trivia
- Naktoura was created on a whim while looking at my Irnakk figure. I suppose you could call this MOC a revamp or a reimagining of Irnakk, though in-universe it would be the other way around.
- Naktoura is pronounced nahk-TUR-rah.
- Other than the head and the waist cape (which could easily be Vezon’s), this MOC is purist; though if you wanted to use Irnakk’s head, I believe you would have to figure out a way to work the tail part of the spine into the design as I doubt many people would be willing to cut that piece (the arm parts can easily replace the Metru armor).
- I don’t have a name for the gun nor do I know why its Zamors or the light in the trident are green. Likewise, white has no place in a Psionics-based color scheme but that color is simply there to remind the Thok white parts used on Irnakk.
