NDE-MK3500: The Lancer

So, once upon a time, in January of this year

I bought 2 copies of the King’s Mech, from Nexo Knights

one of them, I kept together as it was originally built

but the other?

I modded it into something for my sigfig to pilot

It was a very heavy set of mods, and I like to think I’ve left nothing unchanged

Kind of a shame that you can’t see the eyes from the profile view, but oh well

As one might tell from the fins everywhere, I was originally gonna give this thing wings. But I couldn’t figure out a good design, so I did that instead

Shield arm needs improvement, but it gets the job done

Also, the Lance is removable

And finally, the Lancer next to the OG King’s Mech

I’d say they’re pretty different

Pretty great, coming from a Mech moccist.

at that point why not just build a mech from scratch

It looks pretty good, but the area where the minifig sits could use something to cover its head.

Because I’m not very good at skeletons or frames

I’m very good at sticking things on top of skeletons or frames, though.

Well, it is quite different from the original Kings Mech. Still pretty nifty, though.

So, I’ll give my 2 cents.

I dislike the mismatching CCBS armor shells a lot. Especially since it serves no aesthetic purpose. The upper legs look bad, since it’s there’s no transition from the thickness of the upper legs to the ball joint, and no transition to the lower legs. The shield arm looks strange with the hand coming out of the shield, but that’s an easy fix. There’s nothing wrong with the chest, except the metru blue on the back.

All in all, some parts could be better, but for what it is, coolio.

I feel like the drill should be longer to look more like a lance.

But this MOC is amazing!

But I can’t help but comment on how awkward the asymmetrical shoulders are.

Working on replacement parts

I fail to see what you mean

I mean yeah there’s a rather unsightly gap when I bend them all 90 degrees

but the shapes themselves are pretty consistent

I mean, I retain the pointyness up front, as well as the curve on the sides.

Okay, how do you propose I fix that?

This MOC looks awesome, that drill hand especially is pretty cool.

I think I can actually work that in, provided I can think of decent parts to sub in for the four white cheese slopes on the chest

Are there any drill parts that are longer than what I’m currently utilizing?

I did try to make it as long as I could, I mean, extra spacer, the cone piece, and the Unicorn horn make it significantly better than it would be otherwise.

I’m not talking about the gap, I’m talking about how the hip ball joint goes from 2 studs wide to 4+ studs wide in the upper leg, then loses a stud in the lower leg, with no transition. It’s like having cliffs instead of hills.

Has 360 degree rotation, and keeps the same finger setup as the old hand. The shield might have to be changed for the rotation though. Ask if you need me to make instructions.

You can extend the tip out further with 1x1 cylinders.

Oh, you mean from the profile view

Okay, I see what you mean now

Yeah, IDK

I mean, I can try to do something about that, but the thicknesses are tricky.

Oh, okay

that’s pretty neat. I’ll attempt that. I think I can see how it works.

I suppose, but then, I lack them in silver in any real sizable capacity

Try other parts, then.

Does his lance pierce the heavens?

Pierce the heavens.

But
Seriously thought

The hand looks a bit weird IMO and the minifig is too exposed but otherwise it’s cool.

Good all around. Barely recognize the original model.
