UPDATE 11/13/23 I present Sky Adapted Kopaka! With interchangeable parts and foldable wings and sniper/ arm repeater. I also updated the spine which works with the forward crunch with no issues or hindrance. I hope you like this update! Kopaka - So this is the continuation of the Definitive Edition Series which began with Icarax, in this series of MOCs like Icarax, I set out to make the best Kopaka Mata I could muster with as much Articulation as possible and enough detail and character recognizability. He has ball joints in the neck, shoulders, waist, ankles and left wrist and forearm, upper chest forward crunch and backwards bend, waist forward and backward bend, butterfly joints below the shoulders allow him to cross his arms, he has two joints in the shoulders for maximum range, double joints in the elbows and knees and full hip artculation and ankle pivot/forward back movement. Lastly finger articulation at the knuckle and middle joints. He can also store his weapons on his back. Also another gimmick is his spine moves with the articulation! I hope you like it! If so I will be doing the other Mata in the future. Note: This MOC does not use custom parts or have illegal connections, it can be 100% built by regular means with instructions once I make them.
Thank you so much! Haha it’s kind of a pompous title I know, I just stuck with it because I already started that with Icarax lol it was kind of a joke to start but I just continued to run with it.
There’s a lot a lot of dark grey for a moc based off the original Kopaka set, which featured none at all, and while the articulation is quite nice, the greebling is a bit messy because of it. Some color choices don’t make sense when white versions of those pieces exist - notably the pneumatic T bars, robot claws, and 3L lightsaber wands used for extra detail most everywhere on the torso.
The spine movement is a neat feature, but unfortunately only exists in between the shoulders. I do like the usage of Bukkey’s (I think he came up with it at first, I’ve seen it a lot) finger design, and the ability for a moc to do This and still look good is mad impressive:
Overall, it’s an impressive first step on a moc looking to claim the title of The Definitive Edition™️, and I look forward to seeing updated iterations in the future as the design is refined more and more.
I appreciate the feedback and criticism, and thank you for the compliments! The reason for the color choices was because I built it for a friend of mine who preferred the darker color scheme. I would have used light grey and white basically everywhere otherwise, but wanted to at least get the photos of the build out on what the MOC looks like minus the accurate colors. Since this will not be in my possession for future updates I will actually have to buy the parts to do so again, which is fine, it would be a good project to finalize. The spine was extremely tricky with there being so few options to hold it in place with the design of the body but in the future I’ll rework this issue, coincidentally I actually just realized a way the spine could actually run the whole back and still function but I don’t have the parts . Lastly the greebling was certainly a challenge to lessen due to having to have parts that articulate and move when posing, I know it isn’t the best Kopaka moc, but in the future I will do what I can going forward to improve
The “Shoulder crunch” is this MOCs ability to articulate the shoulders inward, which is not usually found on MOCs, but more regular on action figures which they call “butterfly joints” and allow the arms to cross over the chest or fold the arms or even hold a two handed weapon more naturally.
