My take on the setless wonder. I’m still hoping one day some soul will model a mask based more on her original 2D art than the later 3D one. But thanks to KhingK for the latter.
For those interested I also have instruction videos on the body and staff. I’d rather they not be in two separate places, but it just happened that way. Fair warning though, there’s a lot of paint here and I have no idea what parts come in what colors officially. Also, the twintails are optional and super not accurate; I just felt something really needed to fill out the back of the head.
This looks absolutely amazing. You managed to translate the artwork into an actual MOC pretty accurately! That must have been a very challenging task, yet you pretty much nailed it!
The color blocking on the actual moc could use a bit more work, or perhaps the color layering since it seems that the blue is armor on top of the white. in most cases.
However, you did an amazing job in recreating the artwork, which is a commendable feat all on its own. Well done!
Thanks. The coloring isn’t my favorite among my finished mocs but I want to say at least some of that was from the trouble I had making full sense of the artwork, which seems to alternate between blue and white layers more frequently than your typical moc. Aside from that, there are two points I would color differently if I could do it again: the white liftarms on the side of the upper arm I would turn blue, and the entirety of the lower leg above the ankle guards I would also make straight blue.
I really loves this MOC, because you’re not only painting: your building skill is very fantastic too!
(Of cause, this point has be known by many people, especially in the Artakha contest)
Personally, I find your builds to be everything great about custom Bionicle. The painted parts, the little bits and details, the intuitive techniques, and the abundance of technic. Sometimes, an abundance of technic can result in builds that are unshapely or unpolished. But with your creations, you’ve really refined this building style to its finest form.
As for this MOC itself, there’s just a whole lot to love. My favorite aspect is the color distribution. I love the splashes of white all throughout. I also love the abundance of the many fun system bits incorporated. The minifig arms, the motorcycle handles, the pink tiles, the samurai crown, and so on. They are truly an enhancement to the build.
Most of all, the fact that you replicated a piece of artwork so seamlessly with LEGO parts is a testament to your skill!
hey, figured it made sense to link this here since i did use the torso design from her to some extent and didn’t know if you’d seen it. (Tempra, Toa of Time V4)
