I personally believe it to be caused by the 20 thousand post 2016 topic.
I just don’t see why this shouldn’t be applied to regular Topics too…

Notification Bug Journal, Day 2.
It has been two days now since the Notification Bug of March hit the Message Boards. This notification famine has already caused the boards to slow down in inactivity.
We’re running out of food fast. Need help, anyone who can read this.

So is the bug reaching day 3? and on the topic of inverted colors, it looks very halloween-ish, but the background is too bright, and some of the inverted avatars are bad, while others, like @ToaVoriki’s look good.
