Obscure/Ridiculous LEGO/BIONICLE Products Discussion

How come I never heard of these.

I recognize those! They’re pins for retail store employees during product launch events. I have one from a 2001 BIONICLE Launch Event package that I procured from another AFOL a couple years back. These event kits were originally sent out to various retailers and contained lots those badges, a Kanohi mask grab box and some pretty nifty cardboard cut-outs like this one:

(this counts as an “obscure BIONICLE product”, right?)

Maybe it was designed first?

It’s a piece of '08 promo art that I’ve personally seen before (though I can’t put my finger on exactly where though). It’s viewable in the BioMediaProject’s archive.

LEGO isn’t against producing highly specialized moulds for their limited-run Collectible Minifigures series. I think that the problem lies with the choking hazard standards Happy Meal toys have to adhere to (I imagine they’ve gotten more strict in the 15+ years since the McToran).

Yeah, it’s on the tops of the Mistika canisters (with the Toa’s having the sleek portion on the front and the Makuta having the deteriorating one on the front) and on the background of the Phantoka posters.

A hospital set in 2007/2008, along with an Indiana Jones set both featured a raised base plate, a pretty mediocre one, but one none the less.

It may be ridiculous, but I have that one, and it wasn’t that bad (aside from the fact that it had a Vahki head as a launcher, that was a bit weird, but it worked I guess), and the eyes actually lit up!

the minifig has 8 parts yet they managed to build it completely wrong

it’s suppose to be like that
the spine will get in the way where you place minifig and the arm, there’s no clip so it’s gonna go like that

the body is upside down, what about that

pohatu syndrome

Found this on ebay, can’t say if it’s a legit product or not (as there is no brickapedia page and i can’t find any references to it from a quick google search) but if so… well…

it’s unique

Who knew LEGO was in the spy business?

It’s on bricklink → Camera, Spybotics 35mm Spy, Mock Cola Can Pattern : Gear 4196400 | BrickLink

Must have been some thing lego did to promote the Spybotics Mindstorms subtheme from 2002.
