Oh Sun Immortal

The source of life – what is it?

Is it Destiny, for which the substance of our planet’s core transforms or destroys at its commands? Some higher power, were we are nothing more than nightmare figments left to be snacked upon by dreamers? Perhaps the source should only go as far back as memory holds, when the maddened greats altered and created whatever they saw fit. But these days, does any answer matter now? There is but one reason why we still have life – a reason that even still is mysterious to us. A reason that has only been true since five years ago.

I remember how this world was before the Shattering. Never gave it much thought then, few did. It rose and fell, some days too hot and others too cold. After the Shattering? It scorched and burned, threatened to kill everything with a constant vigilance that no beast or being could match. And when the world was made whole again, we resumed little thinking of it.

Then one of the maddened greats doomed everything – he changed the sun.

We used to just call it “Great,” the same title we gave our world. No one calls it that anymore. We call it Solis Immortalis, “The Immortal Sun.” May it continue reigning mercy upon us.

What was done to the Immortal Sun to make it so? Wasn’t there, hardly remember most details, but it went something like this…

There was a lizard which could not die. Slash it, burn it, disintegrate it, even force Destiny’s hand upon it and nothing would happen. There was some power within it that forced it into perfect adaption. Except for a single instance against a force it had never encountered.

In order to stop a world-conquering Great Being, a once long-lost Makuta unleashed this lizard. And with some nonsense magic-science, that Great Being forced the power out of the lizard and sent it into the sun. Perhaps he hoped it would be destroyed and prove its great title. But it was not destroyed, the sun and power became one. Now adapted beyond even the madman’s magic-science.

At first, as we often did, no one thought much of it. The Immortal Sun continued to rise and fall as it always had. But those who studied both that lizard and the stars informed us of most troubling revelation.

When the lizard could be destroyed, the power would find a new host and transform it into a new lizard. The sun immortal had not become such a thing. Second, the power always adapted its host into the most optimal form to survive. Our great sun was in no such form, there were better things to become to continue its existence. With further testing, there was a startling conclusion.

The sun was alive.
The sun was immortal.
The sun was choosing to remain in a lesser form and not wipe out our galaxy.

So to our Immortal Sun we praise. Continue your mercy, allow us to continue with the option of life. War shall we no longer evermore. Defile our world and our selves nevermore. We mean no harm and only offer peace to you, oh Solis Immortalis.

Ok, that sounds exactly like what Velika would do.

Is it not Lego?

@DuneToa Velika would turn the sun into a merciful eldritch deity by sheer accidental arrogance? Well, maybe. But the RP pretty much had no canon characters, so he wasn’t responsible for it.

I didn’t know that this was based on an RP.
