“Yeah, real sorry about that. Anyway I could help with uh, whatever you’re doing?” Chook says.

“Apology accepted but who said I needed any help?” Era ask a tad bit confrontational at the guy’s claim, her tone was serious but not angry.

“Oh, I didn’t mean it like that” Chook says. “Um, you seem smart, do you know any people who would be a good mentor?”

“Of course not” she replies, “What kind of a mentor are you looking for?” she asks as she seems to be searching for something else in the immediate area.

“Um, there was a stall where there was some cool inventions that I was really interested in. So, engineering.”

“I guess todays your lucky day.” ´She says, “You are at the biggest yearly gathering on Okoto of those kinds of people, If you can’t find anyone here then where else.” she says with determination. “I’m looking for someone at this convention as well. I guess we can kill two gukkos with one stone if we search the convention together.” she admits.

“Sounds good!” Chook says.

Jaspar smiles at the sight. He crosses the room to her, pausing for a moment before giving her a gentle nudge on the shoulder.

“Hey there sleepyhead, it’s morning.”

Vohman shrugs. “Eh, probably nothing worth worrying about.”

“Ohhhhh. Huh.”

Risa crosses the slope, tapping Twenty Three on the shoulder. “Excuse me, wolf friend?”

Ekimu’s eyes narrow. “Do you mean to tell me that the Elders sent you north to look for a being who has been in prison for the last three years, when their problems mount in the south?”

Vra’axinni pushed himself up and onto his knees, as he took a deep breath. “If we are all dead or enslaved by spiders we will not be able to help him in any way, and we have a larger problem to deal with at the moment. After we deal with her we can help him to pay off the boat the false queen broke.”

“I mean, you were buried.” Keya says. “Maybe that has something to do with it.”

Tathel sits up. “H-he has a point. Who knows what she’s going to do; she probably beat us to land by a good few hours. I’ll figure something out with the boat, it’s really not a big deal.”

“Hello friend!” Greeted Twenty Three, turning to look at Risa.

“Hi, yes, uh… that’s my partner’s body.” She points at the wood Twenty Three was currently turning into firewood. “We kinda need that.”

“He just popped out of it though, and we can instead use the wood to keep us from freezing. Good idea, no?”

“Maybe.” He uses the shovel to get up. “So, are there any others around?”

Morrus mentally stabbed at Risa for abandoning him in his most desperate hour.

“That was my fault too.” He grumbled, gripping his head even harder. “I convinced them he had only actually been imprisoned for a matter of days due to the carnage he caused at the market. In demanding I be right I have gutted myself and hung myself by my own entrails, and you’re going to pound me flat because you don’t believe I could be so stupid as to do this to myself.”

“Better than seeing Erebos.” He leaned his chin against his wrist and sighed. “Thank the stars they don’t know he’s mucking about.”

“What.”

Bramble stared blankly at Vra’axinni. “What do you mean spiders?”

“Is there something I’m missing?”

Bramble suddenly jolted. “The village!” He gulped. “Th-there’s a large village we passed by on the way over here! Oh, I hope they’re okay and not spidered!”

“Are we talking about the ones that grab your face?” He whispered extremely loudly to Vra’axinni. “They are the worst kind.”

“Mnnn?” Ilza murmurs blearily, her eyes blinking slowly open, before it hits her where she is, “Ugh. My back did not appreciate that one.” She grunts, rubbing the sleep from her eyes and stretching, popping her back a bit in the process.

Keya nodded. “Yeah. Follow us to camp, you may want to meet 'em”

“Skull Spiders.” Vra’axinni responds. “That woman was the Queen of the Skull Spiders, and I fear what she has in store for us.”

Bramble forces himself to stand up, growling at his incapable neck muscles as he did so.

“They have a monarchy? How does that even work? Wait, she’s not even a spider!”

“…Is she?”
