Okotan Adventures: The Adventure Continues

She might soon see Lord of the Storm talking to Skyll, who turns to greet her. “Ah! Pheore, you’re here.” She says in a delighted voice, one that Pheore might remember from her dreams while unconscious.

The Storm glanced down at Pheore as if some feline had brought him a dead rodent as a worthy sacrifice to his greatness.

“You have excellent timing… Pheore,” He said as warmly as he could. “But who is that?” He pointed a frostbit finger at Choroko, who hadn’t exactly lost her way.

Bramble reacted first, immediately stunned that whoever this was would completely ignore the loud clatter as the widgets from his pocket hit the ground. All suspicion was absent from his mind as he scooped them up in one hand and turned to Geet, unsure of what to do.

“My name is Choroko, and I’m a Protector of Water just trying to help,” she says to the Storm

“but who are you?” she asks curiously

“An old man who’s just trying to help.” He responded, glad that Choroko was down there and that he was up here so he didn’t have to have his personal space invaded by anything other than a spear held by Skyll who didn’t seem quite skilled in anything other than making spiders carry her around.

Looking down with disdain, he spoke again. “Tell me; are you capable of some oddly specific feat most adept in combat?”

Pheore goes to draw her sword. “Who are you and why do you know me?” she snarls.

“I know your name because it was just mentioned.” The Storm said, trying hard to hold back his irritated expression. “That, and you were just being discussed.”

“What? You don’t remember me?” Skyll pouted. “I figured you’d at least recognize my voice, hun.”

“Well no duh,” Pheore drawls. “I’m not talking to you, I’m talking to her.” The fire villager levels her blade at Skyll.

“I do recognize your voice; just not your ugly mug. You see the problem here?”

“The main problem,” The Storm snorted, “Is that I’m being asked not to kill you, which I’m finding very irritating.”

She gasps. “Hurtful.” She says, sounding slightly sad and offended. “I’ll ignore the fact that you just insulted your queen.”

“Oh boo hoo. Cry me a river and shut up. I can only pay attention to one of you at a time, and you’re second priority right now.”

Pheore glares at Skyll. “What was that about being a queen?”

“Why it was the truth, of course.” She says. “I mean, it was by my orders that you came here.”

Pheore’s eyes narrow into slits, glaring at the spider queen. “As if. Sorry to break it to you, but I didn’t get any orders. Not from Narmoto, not from Ekimu, and certainly not from you.”

“I mean, she has a point you know” Choroko but into the conversation.

“Didn’t you?” She asks. Her mask glows softly. “Drop your weapons.”

“You be quiet,” Pheore retorts.

Her fingers go limp, her sword slipping from her fingers and clattering to the ground.

“Well what did you do that for?”

“See?” She giggles.

“Wha-?” Pheore’s head whips about. She rolls her eyes. “Great, I dropped my weapon.” She reaches down to pick it up, silently cursing her recent brush with death.
