Okoto Critters

A small variety of G2 wildlife I’ve created over the years.

Vespirr (Formerly Nui Vespa, Naming convention made no sense in my story.)

Dangerous wasps that live in small colonies. These guys are due for a redesign

Crovorak, a tough, aggressive creature, reminiscent of the Visorak.

It has an elaborate pinching gimmick. While clunky, it is hidden well.

A strange, mostly harmless crab. It seems more mechanical than the others, and doesn’t seem to fit in the food chain anywhere. Believed to be invasive, but don’t appear to eat anything.

Tibyra, a type of shark. Rarely aggressive towards villagers, but powerful hunters.

Koribahn, frost tiger. Solitary hunters, they have unfortunately started running in packs and have become very aggressive due to the skull spiders infesting the food chain. \

I repurposed them from a Zergling Moc

The Gemmen, an intelligent creature that lives in small communities under the tunnels of Onu-Koto. They eat precious minerals, absorbing them into their carapace for defense. It is possible to befriend them with gifts of gems or metals.

These were an idea from a friend on Deviantart. So was the name.

The shark is easily the cleanest of the models, with very nice shaping and a compact design. The Crovorak makes no logical sense, but that’s what makes it fun, although I can’t figure out how the pinching mechanism is supposed to work. Is there any way you could record it happening or provide some illustration of the function?

These are all fantastic! However that shark is incredible, such an excellent build, definitely the best of the bunch.

I agree that the shark is very clean, but I think that my favorites have to be the adorable Ussal-like creature, for their brilliant use of the Garai, and the Gemmen, for their wonderful color scheme and adorable heads.

I agree. The shark is very clean and smooth, with that HF head working great with the other parts. The color blocking is also brilliant; the black bones are hidden away by translucent blue and silver armor.

Some super fun builds here! The Gemmen are cute, the Tibyra is clean, and I really like the front portion of the Crovorak. My favorite has to be the small mysterious little crab; it reminds me a lot of the mysterious black turtles in Over the Garden Wall.

So the armor panel on the back actually does fold up flush against the mechanism, so it looks very clean and beetle-like.

Pushing the mechanism forward closes the jaws, I could’ve designed that much simpler one, but I hate using rubber bands

Decided to build it myself to get a better idea of how it feels. Missing some parts (and the head is on a moc i really don’t want to scavenge from), but got the general gist

Thoughts:

  • Colours are great. I had to compromise a few times, which made me appreciate the solid colours of the original
  • function is kinda lackluster, the pincers don’t move much
  • that said, it IS integrated and hidden very well. The torso is obviously very tall if viewed from the side, but any other angle it looks great.
  • it’s also fun to play around with. Though it is unfortunate you have to manually move the orange ribcage back into place
  • i wish those uniter pieces came in more colours hey, i didn’t say it was just thoughts about the moc

Overall, it’s simple but effective and cute, with a function that feels like it adds little, but is unobtrusive, so it works.
3/10; needs more green

Addendum: just realized while fiddling with it that i accidentally made a minor improvment due to lack of parts:

I used the version with axles on both sides, which gives a convenient place to pinch to reset the function. This wasn’t intentional, i just used the pieces i had, but i thought i’d point it out.

Oops, I forgot to reply to this. That’s a great little improvement! I’ll have to implement it on mine. Doesn’t look half bad with that head either.

The original was actually green, it was done as the creature of shadow, in Umarak’s colors.

But I redesigned it completely into a more Umarak-like design, and converted the original build into crovorak.

I like the Gemmen, very simple but fun looking builds.

That’s a fascinating transformation. What led you to change it so drastically?

I am genuinely surprised that people haven’t tried building Rahi creatures but in a G2 style before… I think that concept has a lot of interesting potential, much of which is clearly shown on display here!

That antler design is so clean and so simple in the second picture, I am honestly shocked that I have not seen it before. Nice.

The creatures are really cool. Love the turtles you designed.

My idea for Umarak is that he is the creature of shadow. He’s attempting to absorb the other 7 creatures for their power. So I redid the Moc to resemble Umarak a bit more. It even has his mask on its back.

Didn’t even notice the mask on the back at first, neat!
