$1144.00 - $90.00 = $1054.00
The rest ($1054.00) should be spent of an even number of oxen (under ten), and whatever is left over (after buying the oxen) should be used for any emergency purchases later on.
The final bill is:
$120= 6 oxen
$400=2000 lb. of food (400 lb. of each of us)
$200=20 sets of clothing (4 for each of us)
$180=90 boxes of ammunition
$90=spare parts
Total=$990
