Possible significance to toa mata nui's look

to most of us, the toa design the ignika created for mata nui’s body on bara magna might just seem random but now, possibly, i think it might not be. the pics below, images of mat nui’s gallery on BS1 from sources i dont know, show his original body with the design of his toa form, which always bugged me. now obviously this could likely just be creative license of the artist or them being unfamiliar with his normal look.

though, maybe, just maybe, what if they are not, but small hints of some of the may story details lost due to the series being cancelled. i was recently reminded of the fact that makuta was meant to take over mata nui’s body, and he possesses another that the great beings never managed to build. what if his toa appearance was in fact what his finished body was meant to look like? The ignika somehow knew this and thats why it fashioned his appearance this way.

its far fetched i know but just a theory i thought had some merit.

The pictures you showed are from the All Our Sins Remembered, and it is in fact a creative licence of Stuart Sayger. It has nothing to do with any canon appearance other than being inspired by the set.

Isn’t there a TTV podcast that captures Meso’s first exposure to that second image and it just leaves him in absolute hysterics? I remember him finding it unfathomably hilarious. :stuck_out_tongue:

There is.
And a similar thing in the Gathered Friends podcast.
