A poster I made for a friend (who doesn’t have a ttv acct sadly) here was the progress, starting with a base photo, which I removed the background for and applied a few filters and recolored some pixels. Later I experimented with background colors and more filters.

I like it and all, but the Font of the Name doesn’t really fit.
Gimp gives me trouble with changing fonts, so I just use sans.
