Quake: Walking Demolition Creature

Another Dark Hunter, built using only pieces from 2005 and earlier.

In the waning days of the Toa-Dark Hunter war, The Shadowed One enacted a plan to bulster his forces in preparation for what he suspected to be the final conflicts of the war. Using some energized protodermis, The Shadowed One would throw in a Toa of Stone, a wild Panrahk captured from the archives, and a Kikanalo into the mutagenic substance. The emergent creature possessed a mind and intellect largely independent of its component parts. The new being quickly demonstrated that he inherited the abilities of the Toa and Rahkshi used in its creation, sending a wave of rock flying at those surrounding him with ease, only to quickly make them explode and fragment with ease. Rather than be annoyed by this beasts’ actions, the Shadowed One instead had the creature, whom he dubbed Quake, be tended to by some of his more even minded operatives.

Their efforts to acclimate Quake to his new life would be soon relocated to Odina due to the Dark Hunters defeat. After some weeks, Quake would begin proving to his “creator” that he was grateful for the Shadowed One having him created, and soon began taking up missions for him. The bulk of Quake’s missions would require him to make great use of his abilities, often involving the destruction of buildings and fortifications, particularly the kind being used by petty warlords feuding amongst each other. This would extend to the various fortresses of the Brotherhood of Makuta when was broke out between them and the Dark Hunters.

Following the outbreak of war, Quake and his partner Velocity would be sent across the universe to coordinate attack efforts with various agents and to carry out raids against different Makuta fortifications. Quake would also take a liking to slaughtering Rahkshi, in particular using his abilities to crush Rahkshi in landslides.

When the Order of Mata-Nui revealed themselves and declared war on the Brotherhood of Makuta, Quake would continue on with his life as before, only this time often being aided by Toa and Order agents. During this time, Quake would be captured by the Makuta and subjected to various experiments to discover just what the Dark Hunter was. This period would come to an end when Makuta Tridax teleported the island of Destral off the shore of Metru-Nui, an action which would see the Order and Dark Hunters launch a raid on the island which ended with the death of Makuta Tridax and Quake being freed from his imprisonment.

This period spent in captivity would leave Quake’s mind fractured, with the minds of the Toa and Kikanalo used in his creation beginning to emerge, starting as mere voices and soon lapsing into blackout periods where one of the other two would take control. If the Toa mind took control, Quake would become disobedient and unwilling to partake in missions which could result in casualties. Whenever the Kikanalo took control, Quake would be sent into a blind rage, causing massive destruction during these periods and in one instance killing multiple Dark Hunters. To prevent these rampages from causing any more damage and alerting the newly emerged Teridax to their presence, the Shadowed One would force Quake to be locked in stasis. During his time in stasis, Quakes mind would be subjected to tampering by Dark Hunter agents. Unbeknownst to the Dark Hunters, the Order has sent an agent to infilitrate the Dark Hunters and rework Quakes mind further, particularly with the goal of allowing the Toa’s mind to take permanent control. The agent would be killed by a Rahkshi raid on Odina however, leaving Quakes mind a warzone between his and the Toa’s personality.

When Mata-Nui defeated Teridax and the Matoran Universe was evacuated, Quakes body would be evacuated by Dark Hunter agents and relocated to the Shadowed One’s new base of operations.

Traits and Abilities: Simple but not unintelligent, Quake quickly took to academic pursuits of various kinds not long after his creation. Whenever he wasn’t on a mission, Quake would spend time reading through the Dark Hunters vast library of tablets, in particular taking a liking to those writings dealing with the mythologies and legends of the various people who lived throughout the Matoran Universe. Along with that, Quake has a fondness for combat, deriving great joy from seeking out different opponents and new warriors. The experiments the Makuta subjected Quake to would leave him with great hatred and fear of the Makuta and beings who wield control over the element of shadow in general.

Due to his abnormal origins, Quake possesses elemental stone abilities on par with a Toa, allowing him to create, control, and absorb stone at will. Quake also possesses fragmentation abilities, allowing him to reduce objects to rubble. As a result of being part Kikanalo, Quake is capable of leaping great heights and possesses great physical strength. The sonic roar possessed by Kikanalo has blended with the fragmentation abilities, allowing him to destroy structures with his voice. Quake possesses a spiked mace on his tail and a long horn on his head.

He looks similar to a Spiny Stone Ape. That probably allows him to blend in with them on missions.

Very nice. You’ve really captured the retro feel here.

I like how this is built entirely out of pre-2005 G1 pieces. This gives it quite a unique aesthetic that I don’t see very often those days, not even among G1 purists.

This is a really nice MOC, I like the kikanalo head and the way you used Onewa Hordika’s weapons on the back, as minor a detail as that might seem. :stuck_out_tongue: The backstory is also wonderful, I always love seeing a good backstory. :stuck_out_tongue:
