One of the most underappreciated themes ever. You get so much variety within this theme, if you are even remotely interested in race cars, I can bet there is something in there for you.
We got System sets, Technic sets, the Hot Wheels-style Tiny Turbos, Detailed display models, RCs, playsets, pull-backs, slammers, some more experimental stuff like the Xalax, and they even tried to introduce some sort of worldbuilding and story with the Drome Racers subtheme. All of them coming together under one single umbrella theme.
This may be a bit of a unpopular opinion, but Speed Champions, its modern counterpart, feels really lacking to me. All we get in it are just realistic cars, and that’s it. It lacks the amazing variety that Racers had.
Overall, one of the most diverse themes ever produced by LEGO, and one of the most underappreciated ones. Honestly, I am really surprised people don’t talk about it more often, given how it lasted for a grand total of 12 years. 10/10
