I would either want the cards to be randomly chosen from a deck each turn (in this scenario more cards would need to be designed)
Or, each player would pick one card to have with them for the duration of the game

I think that both options could be good, maybe we could combine them like this:
At the start of the game you choose a kanohi and then during the game there is a deck from which every turn you draw a card. The cards from the deck could be like events that need to be played right after you draw them (example: Skrall attack: both players loose 3 hit points) or others (example: critical hit: play this card before you attack, if you hit your opponent you deal +2 damage).
At the end of the turn you must discard cards until you have 3/number you may decide
This way you can add more randomness to the game
More chance would be good.
I am thinking I make mask powers more basic, and card abilities more involved.
Okay, I think Iāll stick with that idea, thanks!
So just to recap the new rules for now (with my additions written like this
Required for the game:
-Bionicle figure with launcher
-Ammo for the launcher
-deck + kanohi cards
-measuring stick
-dice
Objective:
take your opponentās life counter to zero
To start:
Choose a card from the kanohi cards available and place your figure opposite your opponentās .
Decide who goes first then draw three cards from the deck
The turn:
Figure size requirements:
The figure must be between the size of a metru build and the size of an inika build and it must be fitted with a launcher
Scavenging phase:
Once you donāt have ammo left on your figure or launcher you cannot shoot for one turn to āretriveā your ammo
Kanohi cards:
These cards are chosen at the start of the game and once they are used you must wait a turn before you use that cardās effect again
Event cards:
These cards can be found at the start of your turn when you are drawing from the deck.
Once you draw an event card its effects are immediate.
Melee combat:
Once you are close enough ( use measuring stick) you enter melee combat.
During the attack phase instead of using the launcher you can roll the dice you will deal damage based on the roll
Damage:
Every hit with the launcher deals 1 damage.
Melee damage is calculated based on the roll of the dice (1,2= 0 dmg; 3,4= 1 dmg; 5,6= 2 dmg)
Once you are hit you must remove life points from your damage counter based on the damage
I think for now these are all the current rules.
Please correct me if I missed anything
I donāt intend on keeping a scavenging phase, other people have stated that it may have the game drag on for too long. But other than that, yeah, I think that sums up everything, thank you for compiling it and contributing!
for the kanohi cards I was thinking about something simple like this (not final)
on the top of the card thereās the name of the kanohi.
At the bottom there is a box with the effect of the card and the card number: K1 meaning that this is the kanohi card number 1 (I have also added a set number for possible additions of new cards)
Itās a little pixellated but it would be better in the final version
I was working on a basic design and also used the pakari as a prototype⦠what a coincidence!
That looks pretty good!
Canāt wait to see your prototype.
Also I thought that instead of the Ignika and the Olmak we should use other two masks since they are pretty unique in the bionicle universe.
I was thinking about the Sanok and the Huna because of their powers of accuracy and concealment. In game the Sanok could make your next shot automatically hit the target and the Huna could make your opponent take his next shot with his eyes closed or making his next melee attack fail. But maybe more iconic masks should be used
I was thinking more iconic masks, just because they are more well known, and their powers would translate well to game functions
In that case the Huna should be fine but I canāt think of any other iconic mask that could work well
in keeping with my āself imposed challengeā idea, Iād allow players to use larger builds that put them at a disadvantage if they so desire. Alternatively, have a consensus between players on the character sizes, so if they want to use McToran with disk launchers they can.
What kind of events are you talking about?[quote=āoptimus_priminski, post:29, topic:51520, full:trueā]

if the Pakari improves Melee damage as in the card above, you could use the Akaku as a type of ācritical hitā card - if you hit with the ranged attack you get extra damage.
The Miru could be used as another type of movement bonus - maybe allowing you to fire to move away after a melee attack?
Yeah⦠my prototype is VERY basic and kinda ugly⦠I was trying to make it in ms paint
For events I mean anything that could happen during the fight that itās not caused by the fighters. An example I used is a skrall attack but it could be anything like: the crowd starts booing you and because of that you are demoralized.you canāt use cards for an entire turn or you tripped: loose 1 life point
Here was the prototype, as you can see, not nearly as good as yours⦠ms paint is not the best way to design cards
Donāt worry about that youāll get better and let me tell you a secret: I made my prototype in Microsoft Word
Anyway I have one question about the mask powers:
Are the mask powers usable every turn or do you have to wait a little bit between to uses.
Iām asking this because it would influence the effects of the cards.
And I made a prototype of a normal card (in this case an āevent cardā)
It is based on the previous prototype but there is the addition of a card type indicator (E in this case) so other card type can be added
I was thinking that it was going to be used every turn, but the cards that you draw can only be used once
What if instead of a measuring stick we use a card. Just for convenience and practicality.
The card could only work if the target distance from the figure the thornraxx lands s within 1 card length. Those spiky fruit are made of rubber, and with their decorative spikes theyāre prone to flying off in random directions.
