Salvation: Part II

Starchaser changed to robot mode and grabbed on to the top of the ship. Clawing her way up towards the cockpit. She swung herself around and quickly got out her heavy rifle. Pressing the barrel against the glass and aiming it right at the pilot, she fired.

Fire at will it is the thrill of the kill
Four in a day shot down with engines burning

“In that case, I’ll be staying with you. Terror in company must be better than terror alone right?”

“Joy.” Vigor dryly said.
“Well, we don’t have much time before this place is flooding with Heretics.” SideStep grumbled. "If we move fast we might be able to make it. [quote=“Chromeharpoon, post:7504, topic:49995”]
Nearby was the fellow doctor, Forcep of Paradon.

“So it begins again…” he sighs in dismay.

Spectrum looks over at Forcep, recognizing him.
She skipped over.
“H-h-h-hello!” She greeted in her sputtering voice.

The bullet punches through the glass and rips through the pilot’s sparkchamber, killing him instantly. The copilot cries out in alarm, quickly drawing an energon pistol and firing right back at Starchaser.

“Yes,” ■■■■■■■■■■■■ agrees. “Get back inside; we’ll hold them off out here.”

Forcep smiles as Spectrum approaches.

“Good seeing you again,” he says.

INCOMING!” a Decepticon grunt roars as a tide of New Decepticon dropships appears on the horizon, flanked by the vanguard of Bludgeon’s fleet of warships. The rising sun painted them in black silhouettes, and beside it, OL-2’s moon burned like a second star in the sky.

Blasterfire is quick to fill the air as Salvation’s guns roar, and the ground defenses her crew had established toss spheres of plasma and tides of lead at the oncoming enemy.

“I suppose, sir,” Greasemonkey accepts.

The Splitter brothers glanced at each other.
“Here.” Thrust handed the Key to SideStep.
“You get the other Key. We have a better chance of fighting the Heretics.”
SIdeStep took the key and ran back inside the fortress, while the Splitter brothers formed up into Split. [quote=“Chromeharpoon, post:7533, topic:49995”]

“Uh-o-o-o-oh” Spectrum spluttered, hiding behind Forcep’s leg.

Starchaser, keeping her grip on the front, narrowly dodges the fire. She then aims and fires the rifle at the copilot.

Embrace the fame, red squadron leader

■■■■■■■■■■■■’s gauntlets crackle with electricity as he turns to face the battlefield. The Decepticon captain makes a show of cracking his knuckles before transforming to vehicle mode and speeding into the fray. Several New Decepticon dropships manage to evade Salvation’s barrage and lower themselves above the lip of the gorge, depositing the first wave of soldiers.

Forcep looks down at Spectrum.

“Come now,” he says reassuringly, “now isn’t the time for hiding, Spectrum.”

The medic deploys a blowtorch from his right forearm. “We’re going to have wounded, and it falls to us to keep as many of them online as we can.”

The copilot is shot dead, and the dropship begins to dive toward the ground below.

SideStep enters the fortress and sprints towards the lift.

“Y-y-yes s-s-sir!” Spectrum said, saluting.
She scans the approaching Heretics, looking for a combat mode to transform into.

The echo of Atlantis was still absent.

The battle is joined as the first of the New Decepticon troops storm the gorge. Twelve Ground Troopers, accompanied by four Grenadiers bravely charge toward Split and ■■■■■■■■■■■■. Above them, six Chem-troopers remain on the high ground, bombarding Salvation’s crew with a salvo of corrosive slime.

Forcep smirks.

“There’s the spirit!”

Spectrum had the option of either transforming into a miniature of the enemy dropships, or the tank alt-modes of the Chem-troopers.

Spectrum scanned the tank alt mode, transforming into a miniscule version.
She drove out in front of Forcep and opened fire on the approaching Chem-troopers.

The controls were easy to decipher.

The resulting wave of missiles, plasma, and lead obliterates one of the Chem-troopers, and the remaining five begin to scatter. One targets Split directly and lobs a glob of slime at the combiner.

The comparatively tiny droplets of slime do little more than irritate the affected Chem-trooper. A nearby Ground Trooper kicks at Spectrum.

Meanwhile, ■■■■■■■■■■■■ shifts to robot mode and leaps onto another Ground Trooper, tackling him to the ground. A swing of his fist and a flash of lightning later, the Decepticon captain dispatches the traitor. He shoots upward, deploying his shoulder cannon and blasting a hole through the chest of another charging trooper, and the New Decepticon clatters onto the rocky earth.

Elsewhere on the battlefield, Thrift deploys his stinger blades and points a finger at a Grenadier.

En garde, foul villain!” the merchant haughtily baits his opponent. The Grenadier rushes at Thrift with its own blades bared, and the junkion yelps as he takes a quick step back.

Yipe! Wasn’t expecting that- though in hindsight I probably should have…”

She stoes her rifle and punches through the glass, climbing inside.

Call out his name, Rote Kampfflieger

Starchaser quickly jumps into the pilot seet and takes hold of the controls.

In the game to win, the gambler roles the dice

She veers it hard to the side, setting it on a crash collision course with the nearest other dropship.

Eighty allies paied the price

The other dropship quickly veers out of the way, narrowly avoiding collision, and the door to the cockpit behind Starchaser opens, revealing a squadron of four New Decepticon troopers, a Mercenary, and a Berserker in the red-lit bay. The troopers deploy the bayonets on the ends of their rifles, while a chainsaw extends from the mercenary’s right forearm.

Starchaser turned around to see the many decepticons behind her. She looked at them with a mischievous smile.

“Oh hello. Sorry, where those two friends of yours?”
She said with a mockingly innocent tone.

“Well it doesn’t matter. I got other places to be. So I’ll be on my way.”
Using her arm mounted machine gun she shot up the controls, destroying them. She then gave a playful wave and leapt backwards out of the cockpit and shifted into her helicopter mode.

And he’s flying
Higher, the king of the skies.
He’s flying too fast and he’s flying too high.

She locked on to the second dropship and tailed it. Firing at it’s engines with all three of her weapons.

Higher, an eye for an eye
The legend will never die

Meanwhile, Treadquake had joined into the battle. Running into the mass of decepticons with reckless abandon. He got close to a trooper and punched him straight in the jaw, trying to knock him to the ground, so he could then fill his face point blank with a blast from his shotgun.

The Berserker snarls and sprints forward as the dropship leans into a nosedive, leaping out of the hole punched into the cockpit in an attempt to grab onto Starchaser. The other New Decepticons in the dropship wrestle with the ruined consoles to try and control their descent.

The dropship banks to avoid the shots, and two of its turrets open fire upon Starchaser.

The Ground Trooper is sent reeling backward. Quickly, the New Decepticon regains his bearings and fires a burst if hard light from his rifle at Treadquake’s chest.

He manages to grab on to the long tail end of her helicopter mode.

“Oh come on. You can’t be serious. What exactly were you hoping to do here?”

She curses to herself for missing the shots, and evades the turret fire. With the advanced maneuverability of her helicopter mode, it was more than easy. Although the berserker hanging off her rear didn’t exactly make it easy.

He takes the blast, making no effort to dodge it. The damage wasn’t all too bad, but it hurt like hell. He jumped forward, trying to kick the trooper down and pin him under foot.

The Berserker shoots at the tail of Starchaser’s helicopter form with one of his submachine guns, keeping his grip through her evasive maneuvers. A stray shot from a dropship turret grazes his leg, causing bits of shrapnel and Dark Energon to spray from the wound. This elicits an animalistic cry of pain from the Berserker.

The trooper is knocked onto his back.

Unable to do much to evade, he hits her tail rotor. It siezes up and she goes into a wild spin.

“You idiot! You’re gonna get us both killed!”

Click chatters and chirps fearfully from inside. Starchaser changes into her star fighter mode and blasts skyward, preforming all kinds of twists, turns, and dives, all in an effort to shake the berserker off.

Treadquake shoves the end of his shotgun right against the back of his neck and fires b

The shifting of parts from the transformation throws the Berserker off of Starchaser. With a final roar of fury, the New Decepticon plummets toward the ground, flailing his limbs madly.

The trooper’s head explodes, killing the bot instantly, of course.

Nearby, Brakeswitch runs between formations of energon crystals, pelting New Decepticon armor with her laser pistols. A blast from a Heavy Ground Trooper’s plasma cannon strikes one of the crystals, however, producing a bright explosion that throws the navigator off her feet.

“Fricken psycho.”
Starchaser said, rather irritated. She then takes notice of the not-so-insignificant ploom of smoke coming from her rear end. Clearly a direct result of her injury.

“D@mmit. I can’t fly like this. Only one fighter and one dropship. Not much compared to what I usually get done, but it’s better than nothing.”

She turns off her music and goes downward, moving behind the front line, looking for a safe place to land.

Treadquake takes notice and takes aim. He plants his feet and shifts his arms into their gatling gun modes. Opening fire on the heavy trooper, and anything remotely near it.

Most of the action was taking place at the edges of the gorge, meaning that the area around the ancient fortress made for a safe landing zone.

The bullets ripple off the heavy trooper’s armor, and the bot transforms, holding up a blocky arm to shield her face.

“Is that all you’ve got, Autobot?!” she bellows. “You’re gonna have to do better than that!”

The heavy trooper’s other arm transforms into a Scrapmaker minigun, which she heaves forward in Treadquake’s direction. The gun’s many barrels whine as they belch out their own torrent of ammunition toward the Autobot.
