Salvation: Part II

“So how far is our destination exactly?”
Brieg asked.

Zepar nods in somber agreement, “Captains, do I have permission to ask Shockwave to use the CPP on our new prisoner?” He asked.

A train pulls into the loading bay, balancing on a thin silver rail.

“Approximately six-point-five miles,” Shockwave estimates. “This transit car shall shorten our travel time considerably.”

Shatterpoint steps up, as Topside was still talking to SideStep.

“Your request is approved,” the Decepticon says. “I’m sure my counterpart would agree, despite any moral qualms he undoubtedly harbors.”

“Excellent! I didn’t even know we had these.”
Brieg said as he stepped in.

“Topside?” Zepar asks, wanting confirmation before contacting Shockwave.

“They are a necessity on Fleetcarrier-class vessels,” Shockwave explains as he boards the car, as well.

“Of course, your unfamiliarity with the specifications of such ships is to be expected; they are of Decepticon origin.”

Topside looks away from SideStep for a moment and gives Zepar a nod. In his somber expression, the angelicon could see that the Autobot certainly did have his reservations about such an invasive practice, but he saw it’s necessity. Trying times demanded sacrifice in more ways than one.

“Shockwave, is the CPP ready for use?” Zepar asked on the comlink.

“Right.”
Brieg said as he took a seat.
“You know, its moments like this that I realize the two of us could have so much to learn from each other once all this is said and done. Not you and me specifically of course. I mean the two factions. Autobots and decepticons. This entire mission has really showed me that when we put our differences aside, we can accomplish marvelous things.”

“Whichever faction ultimately triumphs over the other would be wise to analyze their foe’s strategic and technological strengths, and incorporate them for future conflicts,” Shockwave remarks. It was probably the closest thing to an agreement he could bring himself to say.

Shockwave sets the cloning chamber down and taps the side of his head, activating his commlink.

“Negative,” he says. “It is being transported to the Omega Conflux for further modification.”

“Do you honestly believe that victory is such a propriety? I never imagined I would see autobots and decepticons working together like this, but look around! I believe that once all this is said and done, Cybertron can have a peaceful future, void of conflict.”

The train car speeds through a narrow tunnel running the length of Salvation- one of many. Through the square windows, the passengers could see other transit stations, storage bays, and hangars zipping past them, each occupied by Autobots and Decepticons working together to keep the Fleetcarrier running as she powered through transwarp to our heroes’ next destination.

“Peace is one possible outcome,” Shockwave replies. “The crew of this vessel seem to have largely forsaken any animosity towards each other owed to ideological differences by now. If similar developments are occurring back in cybertronian space, support for continued conflict will decrease.”

Zepar nods, “I understand. Let the captains and security know when it’s ready.” He said.

“Now, we should probably move the prisoner to a more secure location while we wait for the Patch to be ready.” He suggested.

Shatterpoint nods.

“Of course” he says. “We have plenty of space in the detention wards. Or maybe a medical bay; Forcep wouldn’t mind another visitor, I’m sure.”

“Somewhere with high security but denial of access to any of the ship’s systems from where the prisoner will be stored would be preferred.” Zepar said.

“Thank Primus.” SideStep said.

Lightshift tugged his brothers by the elbow away from the crowd. “We should report this to the captains. They’ll want to know.”
Thrust nodded in reply. “I’ll comm them.”
Pressing the button on his comms, he said to the captains, “Hey, captains. We sorta got attacked by a hallway… any chance it was caused by the spy?”

“Precisely.”
Brieg said.
“Not to mention the fact that this war is what put us all here in the first place. Our conflict has nearly killed our planet. I can’t imagine why we would go back to fighting, knowing what could happen.”

Before he can answer, Shatterpoint receives an incoming transmission from Lightshift:

“Most likely,” the captain replies. “Zepar and Pipebomb just caught the killer who’s been out and about these past few hours.”

Topside nods his head again.

"Yeah. Bludgeon gives us enough trouble without our own crewmates flying off the handle.

“That said, it hasn’t been as bad as I thought it’d be- Autobots and Decepticons cooped up in one ship together. No offense meant, of course, but I was expecting at least two attempted mutinies by now.”

“Another factor to consider, yes…” Shockwave says as the train car screeches to a stop at another station.

“Oh, really? That would explain why we were able to get out.”

“Just you wait.” SideStep chuckled. “I bet ya there’ll be one soon enough, especially from the prisoners.”

“Yes; it seems he’s been modified to access Salvation’s systems, much like Motherboard,” Shatterpoint says.

“Hey, hey,” Topside laughs, holding up a finger. “Don’t go jinxing us now, ya hear?”

“Someone leaked the ship’s system specs?” Zepar growls.
