Salvation: Part II

Spectrum claps her hands happily. “Y-yay!” She cheers.

Split growled at the helmsmen, “Come on, I really don’t wanna kill all of y’all.” He turned his weapon towards the security detail and fired.

“Come on,” Forcep says. “We still have work to do.”

Two of the security officers had shields on their forearm, and raised them to block Split’s shots and protect the other New Decepticons behind them. The security detail starts to press onto the bridge, revealing their substantial numbers and the heavy weapons they all carried.

Spectrum nodded.

“Oh no.” Split frowned.
He pushed forwards as well, forming his fins into a shield.

Zepar asks if the ground bridge controls were still functioning.

With that, Forcep transforms into his vehicle form, relocating Spectrum to the passenger’s seat. He drives off down the hallway, and opens his commlink to listen for casualty reports.

The security officers spread out and start to surround Split. They carried plasma cannons and shotguns, which they fired at the combiner’s sides.

“Ground bridge is functional,” Motherboard reports, her voice shaking and distorting as she spoke. “I can bridge you directly to the warp cannon maintenance bay, Zepar.”

Spectrum dangled her feet off the seat, swinging them happily.

Split crouched behind his shield, doing his best to block the shots, but a few blasts slipped past and struck his sides. He grunted in pain, firing his shotgun at the nearest enemies.

Forcep drives past large holes blasted into Salvation’s hull showing the New Decepticon fleet being battered by the advanced weapons from the ancient space station. Many of the enemy ships were starting to pull away, but still took shots at the Fleetcarrier with long-range weapons.

The security officers all carried shields to protect themselves. They continue to surround Split and fire upon him.

“Eps! Guard the Keys!” Zepar yells as he calls for the portal.

The ground bridge portal materializes to Zepar’s right, its vortex sparking and flickering slightly; the ground bridge module had evidently sustained some damage in the assault.

Spectrum stared out of the passenger’s window with shock. “B-bad g-guys m-meanies.” She stuttered unhappily.

Split growls and charges towards the nearest group of enemies, stowing his shield on his back to protect from people behind him.

Zepar dives into the portal as Epsilon takes his place by the Keys.

“That is one way to put it, yes,” Forcep agrees. “Our species hangs on the precipice of extinction, and all their master cares about is seizing power. Despicable.”

The portal deposits Zepar in the maintenance bay for the massive warp cannon. The inner workings of the gun took up most of the room: a long tube lined with thick cables of conductive filaments and power couplings. Diagnostic stations and repair bays were stationed around the weapon’s innards, and webs of circuitry and coiling tubes spread across the floor and ceiling.

At the far end of the chamber, four gigantic cylinders spun around a central mechanism studded with hexagonal white lights, with rotating rings around its middle like Salvation’s transwarp drive. Crackling plasma flashed around the apparatus, and a haze surrounded the length of the warp cannon.

The security officer behind Split are unable to pierce through the shield, and he knocks two in front of him onto the floor. The others move around him to keep shooting at more vulnerable spots.

Zepar gets to work trying to get a lock on the Armageddon. (I think that’s Bludgeon’s ship)

The Armageddon was beginning to pull away, with an escort of four of the destroyers from his fleet. While the warp cannon’s damaged firing controls wouldn’t guarantee a direct hit, it was likely that the Worldsweeper would sustain great damage regardless.

WARP CANNON CHARGE AT 100% CAPACITY

-Reports the monitor. This was gonna be a real show, no doubts about it.

Zepar begins the firing sequence when he has a good lock.

“Get lost, Bludgeon.” He growls as he fires.

Red emergency lights flare within the maintenance bay as the warp cannon’s cells spin faster around its central drive. Flashes of green, blue, and purple race up and down the barrel as the weapon bent time and space within itself, building up a white-hot irradiated plasma that would short out the optics of any bot who looked directly at it.

MANUAL INPUT ACCEPTED

-The cannon’s maintenance terminal reads.

FIRING

Then the plasma sphere imploded, collapsing into a tiny speck of white before the gun’s rails surged with power. The pent-up energy within the warp cannon’s cells is released all at once, in a multicolored beam of energy that shoots out of Salvation’s bow and across the sky in an instant, turning dusk into midday. There is a thunderous BOOM as the warp cannon erupts, and long cracks split open along Salvation’s fins as a shockwave blasts out from the gun.

A swarm of New Decepticon gunships and fighters are caught within the lance of plasma, and in a microsecond they are reduced to atoms. The beam plunges through the side of a destroyer, triggering a chain reaction throughout its length as a carrier vessel ahead of it is speared down its length, cut cleanly in half. The Armageddon narrowly avoids the same fate, with the beam shooting beneath its underside, its raw power still liquefying the crimson armor of the outer hull and gun emplacements above it. Two smaller mercenary ships are liquefied as the beam lances between them, racing past the New Decepticon fleet to bore into a mountainside beyond.

The moment lasted but a few seconds, but felt like an eternity. The warp beam fades, and the ancient machines above Salvation cease their assault. Bludgeon’s fleet, thoroughly beaten, falls into a full retreat, taking off at maximum speed into the horizon.

“D-d-depibisab-b-ble.” Spectrum agreed, trying to mimic the unfamiliar word.

As the Decepticon fleet began to retreat, Split backed up towards the hole he made in the ship’s bridge. “As much as I’d like to continue this,” he said to the troopers, “I’ve got a mission to finish.”

Epsilon keeps watch over the Keys.

Zepar growls as he watches the carnage, annoyed that it wasn’t a full hit but it sent them running, that was good.

Forcep suddenly screeches to a stop as the warp cannon fires, shaking the ship as a bright light flashes through the hull breaches. When all’s said and done, he transforms to look out into the valley, to see the New Decepticons in retreat- minus four more ships, their melting hulks falling between the mountains.

“I must admit,” he says, “while I harbor no love for weaponry or destruction, the firepower of our vessel possesses inspires a certain awe when seen in action, hm?”

The troopers had paused in their attack, surprised and stunned by the warp cannon blast. Dumbfounded as they were, they wouldn’t give Split much of a hassle as he retreated.

Flyby’s voice comes in over the comlink:

“Awesome shot!” he congratulates Zepar. “You’ve got them running scared!”

“We need to secure the Keys.” Zepar said.
