Self MOC; Shadower

Warning, long post ahead!

It’s nothing to write home about, but I still put effort into it. This is my self-MOC, based on the colours of my old avatar.

Shadower is a half breed, between Shadow, and lightning. His roots of Shadow mainly took over his natural appearance and personality. After his parents were killed in the Manira-Nui War, he resigned to living alone, and peacefully in the Mountains. He enjoys his current lifestyle and stays hidden to keep his peace. As he grew older, he was highly confused as to how he was not visibly, mentally, or losing his ability to age. One morning, he woke up, and walking away from his room, he fled across the floor with great speed. He looked at his feet and saw two black wings, sprouting from each foot. He heard a voice, “You have now become the dark messenger, greatest warrior of the gods.” He thought deeply for a moment, pondering the fact that he was an immortal warrior now. His tasks were now easily completed, thanks to his speed, and he continues to meditate, and live peacefully, again.

I hope you like this MOC, C&C is wanted.

It’s alright, the build is nice but that head looks a bit too small, specially with that one mask, which also breaks the color scheme badly.

Also thos round kneecaps look a bit odd and the pistons in the back don’t flow well.

Overall I will say this is better than other MOCs you have done, I’d say it’s a 6.5/10

Just saying, those aren’t kneecaps, as they are on his thighs.

Ah, regardless still a bit odd.

Thank you, and yes they do look odd, and the mask is supposed to break the colour scheme, as he is a mix of lightning, and shadow. The armour on his thighs was very difficult to attach using this piece:

I like the torso, I like the mask, I like the concept. Can’t wait to see future versions of the character. Good MOC.

It needs work, but it’s a good start. Some quick recomendations:

  • Shorten the legs, and drop the “dinner plates.”
  • The torso’s proportions are a little weird. It could stand to be elongated a bit, and the shoulders seem really wide.
  • The thumbs are a bit weird and I don’t like them, but they could be left as is.
  • The pistons on the back of his legs look a bit strange.
  • Only Hermes can have winged feet. (although if you use those pieces a little more throughout him…)

Work on these a bit, and you could have a really solid creation.

It looks great! …but I think the thighs need some better armor coverage.

@JonBlueFire thanks!

His proportions are really off.

The cap armor things also really break the black.

I got clearer shots of the figure and they should be updated in a couple minutes!

The new images are up and they look WAY better.

I think the legs are too skinny compared to the rest now that I see em better.

I’m not a fan of the MOC having such a bulky torso, but disproportionate limbs. Plus the silver on the legs and the mask, even if they’re there for a reason, really break the colour scheme. Though I will say that the MOCs torso design is pretty neat

It’s still the same for me.

His proportions are very odd and the plates are unecessary.

I like the torso, although it could use to be longer. I’m also surprisingly not bothered by the random colored mask (although I think he would look cool with more Dark Azure).

Those thumbs bother me. Are they there so he may hold things?

Yes, they are also there to portray a more realistic feel.

They make the hands very wide and flat…

I’m not a big fan of how you built the hands, here.

The silver pieces on his knees look out of place.

How so? If it is the colour, that is purposeful. Also, they are on his thighs.

@JoeScibelli, how do you think the proportions are off? The legs and arms are long enough, and everything else well, I don’t know, it looks fine to me.
