Siege: The Shadowed Ones Bulwark

“I want YOU to join the Dark Hunters!”

I can safely say 99% of the pieces used were available in the colors used in 2005(the odd red axle and blue pin piece being the exception). This guy was made specifically to fit in with the various Dark Hunters from the 2006 Dark Hunter book.

In the years following the immediate collapse of the league of six kingdoms, many up-and-coming warlords would rise up to carve out their own empires. One of these warlords would be Vahsein, who would unite various warriors from throughout the Northern Continent in a quest to create a force of truly powerful warriors capable of conquering the Matoran Universe. After a century of warfare, Vahsein would unify the Northern continent and swaths of the Southern Continent before heading east for Odina.

Upon reaching the shores of Odina, Vahsein’s warband would meet fierce resistance from the Dark Hunters, only to eventually overcome the forces of Odina through sheer force of numbers. As the fighting moved further inland, the Shadowed One would be drawn into the fighting, where Vahsein would meet him head on. The resulting duel would last for three days, the two warriors being evenly matched in terms of raw strength, and Vahsein’s own natural abilities canceling out the Shadowed Ones Disintegration beams and Protodermis Staff. In the end the fight would end with the Shadowed One taking the warlords left arm.

While initially planning to execute the warlord, the Shadowed One would be convinced by Ancient to spare Vahsein, seeing his potential as an agent. After recruiting those among Vahsein’s warband who showed potential, and executing the rest, the Shadowed One would convince Vahsein to join his organization, bestowing him with the codename Siege. Siege would be given a new arm equipped with a rhotuka spinner and set to work carrying out his new masters’ orders.

During the Toa-Dark Hunter war, Siege would be the one who lead the initial push into Metru-Nui, setting up their base of operations in the Moto-Hub. During this time Siege would work to keep tensions between his forces and the local population low, recognizing the need to maintain good relations with the Matoran. These efforts would prove to be in vain when the ambush at the Canyon of Unending Whispers would force the Dark Hunters to surrender.

Two thousand years would pass with Siege being employed to regions where large numbers of Dark Hunters were needed, this would extend to the thousands of years of warfare that would break out between the Dark Hunters and Brotherhood of Makuta, often leading hit-and-run attacks on Makuta fortresses.

When the Order of Mata-Nui revealed themselves and the Shadowed One agreed to lend his aid, Siege would find himself fighting along side various Order agents throughout the Matoran Universe, including in the Attack on Destral, where he would hold off a contingent of Rahkshi long enough for the Order agents to free one of their agents and assassinate the Makuta Tridax. Following the defeat of Brotherhood forces in Metru-Nui and Teridax revealing himself, Siege would go into hiding in the Northern Continent, aiding whatever resistance movements he could while also continuing his own guerilla war against the swarms of Rahkshi which were now patrolling the land.

When the Great Spirit Robot landed on Bara Magna, Siege would end up providing aid to a village of Matoran who were attempting to escape from Teridax, being forced to contend with various Rahkshi and members of the Skakdi warlord Nektanns forces. Upon reaching the surface of the newly reformed Spherus Magna, Siege would spend some time helping the Matoran he was travelling with find a new home. After securing them a location for their new village, Siege would receive a message from the Dark Hunter Dweller, inviting him to return to the Shadowed Ones service.

Traits and Abilities: Physically durable and possessing great strength, Siege is a physically imposing figure who can often gain his way through sheer intimidation alone. In spite of this brutish appearance, Siege is actually quite skilled in matters relating to logistics and relations between groups. For this reason, Siege is often used in situations where a more gentle hand would be preferable. Of particular note is that compared to many of his fellow hunters, Siege has a noted fondness for Matoran and a certain level of respect for Toa and Turaga most other hunters don’t display. Along with this, Siege also possesses a mite-makes-right mentality, believing that those capable of proving themselves to be his equals or superiors in combat are worthy of tremendous respect. For this reason, he became immensely loyal to the Shadowed One when he bested the warlord in combat. It also results in him having little tolerance for treachery, a fact which caused him to often feud with fellow Dark Hunter Nidhiki.

Siege possess the ability to produce an energy field around himself which can disrupt the powers of other beings, a fact which allowed him to survive his multi-day duel with the Shadowed One. Siege originally carried a war-hammer as his primary weapon during his days as a warlord, but relinquished the weapon when he swore loyalty to the Shadowed One. In its place Siege was given a new arm which can launch lethargy rhotukua, and a protosteel blade for when he needs to more directly face an opponent.
