“Sit down and be quiet, I want to hear this.” (Zaria, the Driven Toa of Iron)

Backgroundless image

This is my entry for Duckbricks’ Community Fanon Contest #10: Toa Zaria - Yesterday Quest: Part Three.

There’s not a lot known about Zaria’s personality, so my main source of inspiration was his debut quote (as seen in the title). I imagine him to be a dependable, aloof and stubborn, kinda like a mixture of Kopaka and Onewa.

His posability is somewhat limited, but I’d say it’s enough to put him in convincing poses (You wouldn’t expect a rather bulky Toa of Iron to be limber now, would you?)

The posable fingers and thumbs also add a lot expression me thinks.
Turns out that Galva’s Mask of Adaptation V2 fits really well, so I guess I’m joining that Zaria bandwagon.

He can store his staff on his back…

and he can store his shield there too.

Did you know that this is version 6.1 of my Zaria design? I posted my first design here almost 3 years ago! Feel free to check out the previous 6 designs below, and don’t be afraid to admit if you prefer a previous design :stuck_out_tongue:

Previous 6 iterations

I’m very content with the current iteration, so don’t expect any more revisions lol

Constructive criticism is always appreciated. Thanks for checking my MOC out~

I don’t know why, but he feels really short for whatever reason. I think it’s the height of his torso, but I’m not sure.

Since the design 2 versions ago had clearly defined toes, I have to ask: where are they now? :footprints:

I like how you did the bulk of his lower legs and feet. The “shoulder pads” add some nice bulk as well.

The shield also looks really cool. In addition to using it for defense, I can easily see him punching someone with it.

Yeah, definitely feels this way. Not with the torso, but with the torso-leg relative size, the legs fall just slightly short. Especially since the arms are of a more moderate relative size to the torso. Not helped by the added bulk to the leg bottoms and hand size.

But this is awesome all around. My Stud.io is being wonky with downloads right now so I can’t investigate, is that heart light a built-in rod piece, or is it just temporary for the photos?

Overall, I am really happy to see such great builds with this contest, so many great proportions outside of the big-beefy weirdness. Thank you for contributing to the awesomeness pool. Good luck.
