Anyway, I’m a pretty big fan of the Slizers - They were great, innovative little sets, which were full of character and colour, and they really opened the doors to the world of constraction like nothing else could. But sadly, the little disk-throwing dudes didn’t really have much in the way of a backstory. Just what do we know about them and their universe, past their beachball planet and the supposedly mutagenic meteorite?
Well, all I know about the Slizers/Throwbots is that each one had to fight off some kind of threat, attacking their region while also collecting stones to power them up…
Interesting topic. As another fan of the Slizers I’ve been trying to find out as much as I can.
The “good” Slizers were Fire/Torch, Sub/Scuba, City/Turbo, and Ice/Ski. They faced off against the “evil” Slizers who were Judge/Jet, Jungle/Amazon, Rock/Granite, and Energy/Electro. I use quotations because we don’t have any actual information on what each side was fighting for. We’re not even sure how they fought, some comics show them fighting an open plane while another shows them at the dome playing some kind of disc-throwing game. They were described as gladiator-like figures and that’s all we really have to go on.
The discs they had showed various scenes. I forgot the relation between the power level and the picture, but I do recall some types. One had each Slizer facing off an environmental enemy, another had them flying in their pod, traveling across their environment, and one had an object that would power them up. The last type is the most mysterious, because Judge’s power up had a beam of light launch from the dome implying his motivation was the control of the planet or perhaps unlimited power.
Later on the Meoteor hit and the story became more convoluted. Jungle and Judge fused into Blaster, and the rest of the new bot’s identities is up to theories. We do know that Millennium fought against Blaster in a game not unlike the previous Slizer games, but that comic is not confirmed canon.
Speaking of canon one fan-made bot was canonized in a contest, Hiker Mike. I don’t remember his bio but I think Mike stayed away from the conflict.
I think it’s worth mentioning that technically there are 2 stories lines. Throwbots/Slizers. American and European. You can learn more about the differences here: Slizer/Throwbots | Brickipedia | Fandom
Last I checked, there being a defined good and evil side of the throwbots/slizers was just a fan idea. It was never canon to what little story we got.
The Bionicle group on VK did a Slizer month a while back.
In regards to the American Throwbot story, it has as little content as Slizers while managing to be more confusing to the point of even contradicting the set design. The meteor was mutaganic in the Slizer line, which explains Blaster’s patched face of Jungle and Judge. In the Throwbot’s story he was an entirely new character that arrived with the meteor.
This is just an uncommon photo comic depicting Blaster and Millennia “fight”. It’s most likely not canon considering the crowd, but it does hint that Blaster and Millennia were on opposing sides.
What I know about Slizers: almost bonkles but not bonkles
