Space Toa Team

,

Several years ago, I had a go at designing a space-faring Toa team. They were pretty much entirely non-purist and were mostly just generic Inika builds.
This is not that team.

As with all my recent MOCs, these are all purist-buildable aside from the masks, and I’d like to think they’re at least a bit better than the team that inspired them.
If I were to try and incorporate them into the canon lore somehow they’d be well after the Matoran Universe inhabitants exited onto Spherus Magna, with small groups of Toa spreading out into the wider universe to explore.
The Captain (Psionics)

Armed with a handheld Rhotuka launcher, this diminutive Toa of Psionics is the leader of the team, as well as being the captain and pilot of their ship (which I’m kind of tempted to call the Lhikan III as a reference to the Vahki transports the Toa Metru used). She also has energy conduits in her feet that allow her to quickly skate around the ship.

The Miner (Iron)

Equipped with a large air tank mounted on his back, this Toa uses his Kanohi Ruru and arm-mounted drill to gather resources both on planets and in space. The jets on his shins can swivel up and down for added mobility.

The Biologist (Plantlife)

Her scythe and Mask of Emulation allow her to subdue hostile alien wildlife, be they plants or animals.

The Drive Technician (Plasma)

This Toa is in charge of maintaining the ship’s drive systems. In the event of an emergency he can use his elemental power to substitute for the engines or alter the ship’s course, though this is very draining.

The Head Researcher (Ice)

Equipped with a scope for more detailed analysis, his Mask of Tracing allows him to track the position of a target even after it has left his sight. Though it rarely sees use aboard the ship, only the centre of the sword’s blade is metallic, while the edges are made of ice and can be reshaped to his will.

The Mechanic (Gravity)

Thanks to his control over gravity and the jets on his back and legs, this Toa is able to perform repairs to the exterior of the ship even while it is in flight. His mask allows him to detect even the smallest vulnerabilities in the ship’s hull, which he then seals with his Gravity Staff.

Bonus: The Original Space Team

These are almost exactly four years old now, and I think it shows. As I said at the top, I’d like to think I’ve gotten better at MOCing since I made these.

Those look pretty solid. All unique and with custom limbs. With the custom limbs not even repeating themselves too much.
I sometimes feel like I have only exactly one lower arm build I use on everything that’s smaller than my average Makuta

It’s interesting how that Plantlife Toa technically has very blocky limbs due to the heavy liftarm use, but somehow this kinda works and looks quite good.

This also reminds me that as a kid I once also built a “Space Toa” team. I think they were named Toa Galactica and named after stars. Rigel was the Toa of Fire, Arcturus was another name - for probably the Toa of Ice? …I wouldn’t even be surprised if after like two decades I still had the sheet of paper where I wrote that stuff down somewhere…

Sadly, I don’t remember much of the builds. Just that the Toa of Ice used Mctoran torsos as shoulder (or upper arm?) mounted turrets.

What’s that bubble piece on the red Toa in the original team?

I think it’s the dome piece from the Rockoh T3 (57587), but I’d need to check.
Update: It is, and furthermore what was I thinking with this torso armour

I’m pretty sure the mask clips into the dome horrendously as well.
