For me personally, I love the concept of Practical Effects. They give a sense of reality to your film. With that said, I still think CGI could look good, if used correctly.

I like it when CGI and Practical are used in tandem. More importantly, I feel directors and people should never prioritize looks over story, otherwise you end up with crap like James Cameron’s Avatar.
